Bonjour!

Well, the class has started for about 2 months and all I master is the very basic of French. You don't even need to be taking French to know what I knew...... word like Bonjour and Merci. Sad isn't it?

Well, I can't really put the blame on my French Teacher. He's a nice chap, to be honest. He's a African from Cote d'Iviore and I can really see that he's a bit loss in how to take us further. I mean, as a teacher, there's only so much you can do. If the students are not helping themselves...... then... there's nothing you can do.

My only grouse against him is that he's a bit too relax for my liking. Well, I guess that's how African works. They're too "tidak-apa" if you know what I mean. I've been to Sudan and from my experience, I can tell you, Koffi is the fastest moving African I've ever knew! Most African I see in Sudan are damn lazy. I'm not stereotyping them but... that's another matter.

So, now, we're having 4~5 classes per week. I think I'm skipping Friday's classes since I heard from my mates that Koffi usually take a long break for his Friday prayers. (He's a Muslim). In that sense, it'll be a not so productive class. Better stay in office and see what can I do.

So, time is near for our exam and yet not one poor soul is ready for it. Koffi teaches French and he's no guide. For that, he doesn't know what examiners want during the coach exam. That's the tough part. I guess, we'll just have to memorize whatever given to us and try to regurgitate on that day itself.

French is tough but to be able to speak and do commentary in just 4~5 months of part-time lesson is 1000000000 times tougher! MoT think that we are god? Maybe we are, after all!

When I saw the news on TV, where they showed Beng Hock's wife assurance to him that she'll carry their baby and marry him no matter what, my heart felt so painful. I was crying inside as I know how hard it is so say good bye to someone so dear in our life.

To those heartless, cold blooded assholes who made stupid and stinky remarks on his death.... FUCK YOU! I have a few awards for these people/bodies to be forever inducted into my Hall of Scums:

First on my list is the UMNO papers' editors. By now, I think you guys know which papers I'm referring to. No one is playing the race card. No one except you! No one is questioning anything on the Malay. No one is doubting the abilities of the Malay. What we want is justice for a fellow Malaysian that cooperated fully for an investigation and never came home. That's what we want! So, for these well-paid low life amoeba...... FUCK OFF!!

Second on my award list is Zombie of Perak. A cheap politician trying to score a cheap point by hitting a cheap shot at his rival. Critisizing Nizar for holding a candle in a vigil for Beng Hock by trying to potray Nizar as not true Muslim. Huh? What logic is that? Anyway, amoeba can think logically.

Third is for our beloved de-facto Law Minister for suggesting that Beng Hock committed suicide. Oops... once again, the press twisted and/or misquotes and/or took his word out of context. Anyway, cold blooded creatures can't talk straight.

Last but not least... to the Grand Ol' Man of Malaysian Politics. For suggesting that the Chinese is the master of this country, you as such a Maha Racist! You corrupted the country for your own political agenda, breeding croyinsm and nepotism. Now, you wanna be a hero for your superior race and put the blame solely on the Chinese? Go eat your birthday cake and choke!

Beng Hock, rest in peace. I may not know you or anyone in your family but I do share their pain.

Garbage Enzyme

This is the formula to start your very own 'Homemade Enzyme'. It's easy (I think) to make and though it may seem and sound disgusting, (fermented fruits ain't sexy) but let's do something for our Mother Earth. The formula I got is courtesy of Just Life Shop.

Ingredient: Sugar (Brown Sugar used in putu mayam type) Ratio 1
Fruit Dregs (skin) Ratio 3
Water Ratio10

Example: 1kg of Sugar + 3kg of fruit dregs + 10litres of water.

You can use vegetables but according to my sister, vegetable enzyme stinks! So, you have been warned!

Here's how to do it:
1. Use an air-tight plastic container. NEVER USE METAL OR GLASS CONTAINER.
2. Dilute sugar in water, follow by adding fruit dregs.
3. Leave some space in the container for fermentation.
4. Close it tight.
5. During the 1st month, gases will be released during fermentation process. Release the pressure built up in the container to avoid rupturing.
6. Push the floating garbage downward every once in a while.
7. Place at cool, dry and well ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight. Let ferment at for least 3 months before use.

There you have it! It may sound disgusting and not very pleasant to smell but it's very useful! I've tried it as insect repellent and it works! Now we spray our rooms with enzyme before we go to bed and no mosquitoes ever kacau our sleep.

Try to make a few litres. Give it to friends and families. Let's do something that can cut down on the use of household chemicals.

Influenza A (H1N1)

H1N1... we can defeat you!

By now, I don't think anyone old enough to read or turn on the idiot box or radio would not know what the hell is H1N1. It has caught us off guard and spread like wildfire. I think basically the Health Ministry has conceded defeat and now urged the public to self monitor rather than rely too much on the government; which I think is the right thing to do. If we don't start to take care of ourselves, then who will? Just asking the Government to do all the job is unfair and it puts a lot of stress on the medical facilities.

I personally think our Government is actually doing 'too much' on this matter. I know, you might screw me but I do think over-reacting to this pandemic is causing more harm than good. Yes, the virus can spread easily but on the bright side, mortality rate is extremely low. What needs to be done is for the public to be educated, self monitor and SEEK medical attention IMMEDIATELY if even simple symptoms of flu and fever is suspected. Never be a hero....... hero die young!

What angers me today is the attitude of some very very kiasu, kiasi parents! Read here for more details. It is totally uncalled for! Asking the affected parents to issue a public apology? How stupid and selfish is that? Maybe they thought it's fun for the parents to have their children infected and have to suffer; not only physically but also mentally. Just imagine how tough it is for the children to go back to their class and don't be surprised if their friends' parents asked their children not to go near them. The stigma they will suffer will surely put a lot of mental stress in these young kids.

So for those parents who demanded apologies, go screw yourselves. Be ashamed of your stupidity and please never repeat such a moronic act again. You are setting a very bad example to your own children.

To those parents and children affected, be strong and get well soon! The H1N1 needs to do better to break us......

Trip to Mauritius

Last week, on the 3rd of Jun, I had the chance to travel to Mauritius for a short meeting with some Indian travel agents. The trip itself is short, just 3 days but the journey was a long one.

I travel with Eddie, and we book our flight from KLIA to Mauritius via Singapore. In total, the journey is about 9 hours; including a very short transit in Changi.

We landed in Mauritius around 4pm local time. They are 4 hours behind us, so you can imagine the time difference created havoc with our system. We practically had our lunch around 5pm (M'sian time) and dinner starts around 1am!

Mauritius is a very small island in the Indian Ocean, near to Madagascar. It's not quite developed and apart from the capital Port Louis, practically there are no high buildings. Even the capitol has no skyscraper, just a few buildings that's more than 30 storey high. From what I understand, the Mauritian are quite lazy. They work until 4 ~ 4:30pm and then go home and do nothing. In my short stay, I couldn't even find a place that sells souvenirs!

It was said that Mauritius will come alive during the weekends only......

Well, what did we do then? For a start, upon our arrival, we rushed to the safari park. Name only la! What safari when there's only a few lions and a few cheetahs.... in cages! I was hugely disappointed. Saw some ducks and a lone tiger. That's all! Then back to hotel to freshen up and dinner with the agents.

The second day was totally pointless. Eddie and the Indian agents had a meeting with the Mauritius Tourism Board and Mauritius Air when me and 2 other guys went loitering at the Waterfront shopping mall. Nothing to shop since we can get those stuffs here and much more cheaper. The meeting according to Eddie it pointless too!

3rd day is the most hectic, when we did hotel inspections. The hotels were very classy and nice and when you combine good hotels with nice ocean views, it makes a very good honeymoon destination. The food at the hotels are good too.

All in all, it was a tiring trip. We met with our Indian partners, talked about our business and then head straight back. Long trip but worth while.

Hope this trip can bring in business... soon!

Long Live Apartheid...... well, not in South Africa, my friend. It was long dead and history. I was talking about apartheid in Malaysia! Yes, you read it right..... MALAYSIA!

We're living in the 21st century and after the political tsunami on 308, I've always thought that people should have wise up and at least could tone down the racial slurs. But hell NO! Another donkey by the name Dr Ahmad Zaki (I've no idea what kinda doc is he) opens his mouth and spewed shit all over the place. Felt sad to see a learned (he's a doc; he should have at least graduated from primary school) man making this statement.

Already there are people starting a online petition calling for the vernacular schools to be abolished. The reason? Well, these schools are the cause for national disunity and apparently, these schools hampers the PM effort to realise his dream of 1Malaysia! I'd say these are again racist statement and are nothing but rubbish! Abolish all unfair policies, and maybe the people will support; otherwise, it's all talk cock by brainless dickheads!

So, I'm hoping to see what the Police will do to this doctor. Aren't these rubbish seditious? They're lightning quick to arrest lawyers and candlelight vigils. They're super efficient in raiding opposition office and stopping hunger strikes. Maybe we can see the same applies here.... maybe ISA too for Dr Ahmad's own safety.

Bottom line is, the people of Malaysia is generally sick and tired of racial slurs spewed by a bunch of educated dickheads. It's time for the nation to move on for a common good. No one is 2nd class here and we must be equal!

Liverpool Secures Second!

What a journey it was for my favorite football team; Liverpool Football Club. After a tough season long battle, we ended the season on 2nd place, our best finishing in recent years.

As a fan of this great football club, I can say that I'm honored and happy that our club gave our all to secure 2nd place ahead of clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal. Of course, I'm bitter that we lost out of the title race to Manchester United by a mere four points. Adding salt to wound, they have now equaled our record haul of 18 league titles; our last came 19 years ago.

Apart from that, this season, we had improved markedly. We had the best 'away' records of 13 wins, we're unbeaten at home (though the home draws killed our title chances), scored the most goals (and critics say that we can't buy a goal) and kept a healthy 20 clean sheets.

Again, Torres and our captain Gerrard played a great part in the title race. Just too bad, they got injured or else..... who knows where the title might end up? The ever so hardworking Kuyt, fearless Carra and commanding midfielders of Alonso and Mascherano has become the spine of this great Liverpool team. A must mention is the farewell of our legend Sami Hyypia. After a wonderful 10years at LFC, yesterday's match at home against Spurs is his last in our famous red jersey. He nearly got a goal and that would be too perfect a send off! He deserves every standing ovation that he could get. Wish him good luck in Germany and maybe we'll see him back as coach in a few years time.

I'm just hoping that with this improvement, Senor Rafael Benitez can be given more fund to improve the squad further. Buy better players to see that we can maintain a consistent push for the English title and also for Europe. Let the young guns have a go at the domestic cups tie.

Maybe next season, ManU fans can cry....

36 & 6 Birthday Party

Last Saturday, 16th of May, we had a small party to celebrate Xu Hom's and my birthday party. Well, actually, I just tumpang celebrate only la..... the real star is of course Xu Hom. Again we had the party in our house.

This time, Debbie decided that we had enough of steam-boats. So, we opt for cooked food instead; the usual staple like fried rice, fried meehon, salad and curry chicken. Not forgetting the crowd favorite of deep fried wanton and my special mayo sauce! (sorry, can't let you know my recipe........)

However, we had a teeny weeny problem. This type of party is not appealing enough for our Claudia and co. No omph..... So, as an additional for all these food we decided to have a BBQ too! Whoa! It's been like ages since I've a barbecue party.

Xu Hom for the 1st time invited his friend over. Previously, he had his cake cutting at school but this time it's a bit different. He's absolutely delighted that his friend came over... you can just tell by his look. Some of our friends did came over for the 1st time since we moved to our new place and we had nice chats.

We had great fun, the kids and all had their fun in the house while the rest of the gang (Claudia, Maggie,CK and Eddie) had their share of fun at the back of the house where the BBQ is done. We had so much food on the table that I practically had nothing! I had a small bowl of fried rice, a few slices of watermelon and some very nice konyaku jelly. At the tail-end of the party, I had some Chivas mixed with green tea. I'm no drinker and gets drunk easily. But I must say, that combo taste quite pleasant.

Xu Hom had fun with our Spiderman Cake and presents. As for me, I got 2 presents too! CK and gang got me a Adidas T-shirt while Wei Zhen gave me another sweet birthday card....

So, I'm 36 and hoping next year I can have my own cake!

Oh ya... Happy Birthday Xu Hom and Happy Belated Birthday to our lovely monster Si Qian who celebrated his 3rd birthday last month!

Best Gift

The gift that melted me...

Yesterday, I had a pleasant surprise from my god-daughter Wei Zhen after we had a Mother's Day Dinner at Putrajaya.

When I went to her house to ask Xu Hom to back, Wei Zhen had asked me to wait for her to get something. I thought she wanted to show me some homework or so but......

What greeted me was something that was totally unexpected. She gave me a manila card cutting in the shape of a heart; a small hand made, hand written card for me and Debbie to celebrate parent's day... I was so taken aback that for a moment I was speechless!

Thank you, Wei Zhen. That gift will stay with me for a long long time......

Snatch thieves MUST be punished!

It really angers me to read in the paper where innocent snatch victims died and the these killers are enjoying their 'rewards' while the police are busy catching political activists!

Again, another innocent live was lost; this time in Kota Baru. What is even sadder is that she got a baby in her womb. You can get the details here and here. It's just so damn fucking sad to see innocent lives being taken away by scums that are even lower than animals! My heart aches to read these distressing news; looking at the loved ones that are left to ponder what hits them. Husbands loss a wife, sons and daughters are left without their mommies. Is there any hope for them when they see what a cruel world out there?

We have read about a deaf girl being robbed by a gang of scums at a petrol station. We read about a cop that was robbed in his own house. For god's sake! A policeman robbed! These scums are getting so bold, they felt invincible!

The police MUST do something! Confiscating the bikes is a good move; at least something to deter these scums from roaming the street for a short while. Maybe our laws needs to be amended to make tougher against criminal; especially snatch thieves. More time in jail AND more whippings to those caught. However, as the first step, the PDRM must double or triple their effort to combat crime. Nowadays, it seems like the men in blue are only visible when there are by-elections only.

The recent arrest of a political activist also gave the police a very bad image. It seems to be easier and less risky to go after these 'target' rather than real criminals. Let the politics be politics. We do not need people to tell us what we can or cannot wear. What colour to choose.....

What we need are real protection against those scums! Call them what you like but to me these are just low-life dirt that don't deserve any name attached to it. Calling them the glamorous 'Mat Rempits' will only make them feel prouder!

So, buck-up Mr Police! Don't focus too much and try to be seen as the 'protector' of democracy. We just want you to protect us........

Boost for our Tourism?

Eradicate them!!!

This morning, I've received a SMS from my partner in crime KK to tune in to AI FM, 9:15am to listen to our newly minted Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen. Well, given the recent hoohaa on female guides having to share rooms with 'male colleague' that actually reads drivers, I faithfully did just as told during my drive from home to office.

Datuk Seri started the talk with her first implementation of revoking licenses of Tour Agencies that fails to adhere to the 'No-Share-Room-With-Male-Colleagues' for the female guides. She explained that she has asked her DG what can be done or is there a provision for the ministry to do anything against TA that flaunts the laws. She was told that there were nothing in the ministry law-book that can do anything on this issue; until she noticed that as a Minister, she has the authority to revoke licenses of errant TAs! Wow! That's a very powerful tool to be granted to a Minister! I just hope this will not lead to abuses....

Back to this topic, I'm really glad that DS Dr Ng appointment is really like a breath of fresh air to our tourism industry. The previous one has done practically zilch and embroiled herself in controversies over the Pempena issue. Kicking the bad ass of the industry that only think of its profits while ripping off the guides and tourists is one helluva job and we must be relentless in this matter. It'll take lots of hard work to put us in the world's map (at least in tourism) but a few rotten apples will definitely spoils every body's hard work. DS has on air emphasized at least three key markets; i.e China, India and the Middle East. While the Arabs are known for the spending powers, China and India are targeted for their sheer volume!

Good beginning if you ask me. To refocus on the bread and butter issue rather than just cosmetics (giant billboard of Ministers welcoming you). She planned to hit the road and use her influence and network especially in China during her previous posting as the Deputy Minister of MOCAT. She used the term to visit old friends and get them to sell Malaysia!

Before I could finish listening to the interview, I reached my office..... so the rest, i don't really know what was talked about. Anyway, from the brief talk, I gather that the new minister will want to be seen as the one that revive to tour industry after a few years in the wilderness. Additional challenges when the world economy is now in the doldrums. If we put all our efforts in, I'm sure we can overcome all obstacles!

This only augurs well for the industry but I want the ministry to tackle the never ending problem of rogue TAs. They are like cancer to the industry. I doubt they will follow the 'no-share-room' ruling; threatening the ladies they face the 'ice-box' treatment if they pursue this matter. What we need is that the Ministry to announce or get the industry player to implement a minimum guide fee of RM180.00/day for professional guiding services. Engage respective Tourist Guides' Association for ideas or opinions. Real actions taken instead of just paying lip service on complaints against bad apple TAs. As the Chinese saying goes, "Kill one to warn many"; or "Won't cry without seeing the coffin". These rogue (especially Chinese market) TAs must be taught a lesson.

Just hope that Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen can really and possess the will power to fight for the industry, fight for us, fight for Malaysia!

Ban on Female Guides on room sharing

The snakes are choking us all!

I read this news report from the Star with great interest, Female Tourist Guides welcome ban on twin sharing since I'm directly involved in the tour industry.

With a new Minister taking charge in the Tourism Ministry, Malaysian Women Tourist Guides Association (MWTGA) has 'succeeded' in their push to have ladies/female guides to have a room by their own. Well, I must say Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen has issued a very stern warning or ultimatum if you like it that Tour Operators' licenses will be revoked if they failed to fulfill this requirement come 1st June 2009. I used 'succeeded' because looking at the industry, this will bound to fail and nothing but blowing hot air IF the root cause is not tackled by the MoTour.

The problem of female guides having to share room with their male colleague has been an issue for many many donkey years. We heard of horror stories about ladies being harassed by their male colleagues but many chose to suffer in silent. Mind you, that mostly female guides that faced this problem are those dealing with Chinese Markets (HK, PRC, Taiwan). These are real problems but not the only one faced by guides and by guides, I mean male and female tourist guides. Why? Because the main issues here is that Tour Operators a.k.a rats a.k.a snakes in these markets usually operated on a very low tour cost, zero cost tours and some even do a kick-back to the wholesale agents in China! Imagine taking in a group of tourist with negative profits! That's loss making to you and me!

First, don't just talk about rooms. I'd really like to see Datuk Seri issue an ultimatum to operators to PAY PROFESSIONAL GUIDE FEES TO ALL GUIDES or else risked their license revoked! Have a minimum professional fees; let's say RM180.00/day imposed. There are majority of guides that do guiding without getting paid, lucky ones get paid RM75.00/day while a minority of guides still gets RM180.00/day. How do they survive? By becoming salesman la! I know I may sound exaggerated, but it is the truth! As a whole, the whole tourism industry (in Chinese market) suffers. We are salesman on board the coach, we bring tourist to eat in restaurant that you normally don't see even a fly goes there, we checked in 'Hotels' that cockroaches called home! That's what you get when we have operators that still do KB/zero cost tours!

Unless these are tackled with real effort to eradicate 'Ali-Baba' tour agents, don't even talk about a separate room for the ladies. The operators can't even give a minimum of RM180.00/day!

So, Datuk Seri, please help the industry especially the Chinese Market to go straight again. Too many Ali-Babas doing hit and run. They change company name whenever their debt reaches Mt Everest level! Anyway, I support the 'No share room' ruling. It's a good start, just hope the females won't be boycotted.

Until the rats die, there always be salesman around in buses!

Let's go to school again, shall we?

Well, he dug a hole.... too deep to get out and now he blamed someone else for digging that very hole for him to be trapped. He stepped on a pile of his own shit and he blamed someone for not cleaning up his own mess.

He gave a comment during an interview that the Chinese voters were ungrateful and swung their votes to the opposition despite being granted allocation for schools and what not. Since the news broke out, he was under tremendous pressure for those remarks given his position as the N0 2 in the country; a country where racist or hurtful remarks can be sensitive issues.

Put the blame on BN loss at the by-election on the the Chinese shoulders? Calling us ungrateful for all the BN government did? Now, isn't it the duty of the government to give out allocation to all and not just during elections or by-elections? Aren't these our right as citizen to enjoy the benefits? To vote for or against you is a different story all together.

Now the No 2 has tried to squirm out of this hole by (again.....) saying the Chinese media twisted and misrepresented him. He lashed out to the irresponsible reporting, barking " If they don't understand the Malay language, then we can send them to school".

Let's all read into what he said during the interview with Utusan Malaysia....

Q: Tetapi bukankah setiap kali pilihan raya kecil, permintaan kaum bukan Melayu dipenuhi, malah di Bukit Gantang walaupun peruntukan RM1juta diberikan tetapi kaum Cina tidak juga menyokong BN?

Pada waktu itu, kita pun tidak berharap sokongan kaum Cina akan meningkat 40 peratus dan sebagainya cuma kita berharap ada peningkatan sedikit tetapi apa yang berlaku ia mencatatkan penurunan, macam tidak ada penghargaan terhadap apa yang kita lakukan.

Today when I read theSun paper, it really makes my blood boiled. It's big headline that can't be missed "RM18million failed Taxi Venture" with the RM18m in bold red print sure attracts attention!

Now the RM18m wasted by Pempena Sdn Bhd who is the investing arm of Tourism Malaysia, is either because they're really stupid and dumb in business dealings or rampant corruption is the main cause. RM18m reads OUR MONEY! Taxpayer's hard-earned money that goes to the Government coffers are meant for building and developing the country; not for self-enrichment programmes!

For details or the story of this screwed up venture, get a copy of theSun or surf the net. There's details and mind boggling numbers hard for someone like me to digest. From what I read, most probably some smart Alec got duped on a 'sure fire' money making venture with Dalamasa Sdn Bhd.

One of the listed figures are to purchase 5 cars with RM7mil! Yes.... you read it right! A cool RM7mil to be 'invested' in 5 cars (average RM1.4mil/car); most probably a Rolls, Beemer or a S-Class Merc as taxi/limo. Well, to those who are lucky enough to catch a high-end cab to the airport, good for you. The rest of the population like myself, I have never even seen or know such high-end models to be use as cab in other parts of the world I've been to. Maybe we want foreign tourists to know that we are so rich we can afford to ferry passengers in such cars; never mind there are still some poor souls living in poverty! Maybe Pempena carried the 'Malaysia Boleh' motto a bit too far..... Only them can answer.

If you go to PWTC and park your car opposite (at the bus station), you'll see some Naza painted as taxis lying there in sorry state. Some are with puntured tires. Some looked like scraps though you know these cars are quite new. These taxis are painted with blue and with Pempena's permits. A look at these 'junks' tells you how well Pempena can be in business dealings.

Being stupid and duped is one thing. To use taxpayer's monies and be stupid and duped needs to be answerable. Maybe to some, its tidak-apalah.... not my money ma. I suspect, someone might have siphoned part of the mils to their Swiss Bank account. If not for corruption, then what else? I really want to see MACC take some 'real' action on this.

Just hope the MACC can shed some light on this. The rakyat has the right to know. We want someone to be accountable for all these shoddy business dealings. Don't just go after cows and cars....

What's Next after Earth Hour?

Mac 28, 8:30p.m is the day where we're all urged to vote for mother earth by switching off all unessential lights and power. well, I did that and my kids had loads of fun playing with candles. I think we did something good for the environment but the question is... what's next?

To me, the follow through is just as important as the 'publicity stunt'. Yeah, you can call EH just that; a publicity stunt but to me if the stunt can do something and means well, then why not?

So what have we learn from this stunt? It shows that if the people around the world were to be united and stand up for something, we can do and achieve something massive. What begins in Australia has now gone global. For this, I salute all who have actually had made a decision to switched off and spend an hour of their night in darkness.

Global warming is a real threat to mankind. We see droughts destroying crops and lives. Flash floods take away lives. We need to wake up and take heed to all this warning. Putting the blame on God is so unfair to Him. So, the next time when you hear politicians telling us that a landslide is 'An act of God', tell him to fuck off! God is compassionate not like dirty and corrupted politicians!

Here, I vowed to at least switch-off the lights at my home once a month; the 1st Saturday of each month. I want to have at least 720 Earth Minutes in a year. I can save a little money, my kids can learn something about going green and hopefully Mother Earth can smile back to me again. Let's us all do a small part for Earth. After all, we have only one real home.

Heard of this Earth Hour thing? Well, it's a effort by cities around the world to make a statement on global warming by switching off lights for 1 hour at 8:30pm, 28th March 2009. This global effort has been dubbed as part of the worlds first global election between Earth and global warming when 1,429 cities and towns in 80 countries have pledged to VOTE FOR EARTH in Earth Hour 2009.

Gangsterism in Parliament!

Parliament under Attack!

What I saw on TV yesterday night was plain disgusting and shameful to our sacred institution; the Parliament. A group of thugs claiming to be Permuda UMNO acted like hooligans swarmed Karpal Singh and demanded his apology for claiming in the House that Permuda UMNO celaka sent him 2 live bullets and a note for his intention to sue the Perak Sultan.

Now, what Karpal said might not be nice or true. He might think and be convinced that it was UMNO Youth's doing since they're so vocal and daring in their protest against his 'derhaka' against the Perak Sultan. Karpal most probably just said that out of frustration over the incident and also the lack of police actions to safe guard his safety. But what he said is inside the Dewan. It might not be right, might not be true but he can say whatever he wants! It's a allegation and remains that; and I rate the racist and sexist remarks by some of BN MPs more disgusting. Did the Youth came and confront the 'Bocor' MP?

No one is above the law; BN or PR members. To act 'Taiko' in the Parliament; making it like your own kampung backyard shows how kampung you are! What even more worrying is the state of security in the Parliament. When Karpal was confronted it was said the securities did nothing. Where were the Police. Double standard perhaps. It was said that the security members did nothing when things were getting physically.

So, it's a big worry that if these kind of behaviour are allowed in the Parliament compound, what can be said of them when they are outside? Sending live bullet is certainly within them; I must say.... Karpal has valid reason to be worried.

If the Youth were not happy with Karpal' remark, get Khairy or Hishamuddin to ask for a apology from Karpal. You might not get one, but that doesn't give you the right to act like real dumb ass and makes our Parliament a laughing stock. Now, Khairy being their hero has issue a challenge or ultimatum for Karpal to submit proof that UMNO Youth sent those bullets. I'd say, proof submission is to be done by the Police.......

Anyway, a investigation committee is being set up to investigate this incident. A good move but to me the Head of Security in Parliament must be hauled up and answerable to this sad episode. Karpal Singh, proposed in the Dewan that the House issue a warrant of arrest against Serdang Umno Youth chief Ungku Mat Salleh and Gombak Umno Youth chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin to be brought before the House to explain why they should not be imprisoned under Section 11 of Houses of Parliament (Privileges and Powers ) Act.

This 'show' will only get more interesting!

MACC... Will it bites?

One of the much awaited reform promised by our out-going PM has been officially launched yesterday. The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has been given more power to fight corruption in this country.

Whether or not the MACC can perform without fear or favour remains to be seen but it has certainly begin on a wrong foot. It's Commissioner Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan has been criticised for his comment on the probe on the Selangor Mentri Besar on the purchase of cows and maintenance of his private car. As such some of the bloggers mocked the agency as Malaysian Agency for Cows and Cars.

There are weaknesses in the former ACA. According to Pak Lah, the government is aware of the perception that the ACA was not independent, a “toothless tiger”, selective in prosecution, slow in taking action and unprofessional in investigating. The public has no faith in the ACA because perception is a very powerful tool. Once it's seen as biased, nothing it does will have the approval of the public. Even big fish caught will always be seen as a 'sandiwara'.

Anyway, it must be seen a right move to take our fight on corruption to another level. Nothing is perfect. It's just a beginning and I think it'll take quite a few years and numerous modification before we can even be seen or talked in the same breath as the HK's ICAC. The fight must go on no matter what. Just keep our fingers crossed that this is not just another re-branding exercise.

How Low & Dirty Can Our Politics Go?

It seems now that someone from somewhere, belonging to some political party is hell-bent to see the PR state government crumble.... by hook or by crook. By crook more like it!

Just after the fall of Perak to the hands of BN; after 3 'traitors'/frogs/kangaroos/rabbits (anything that jumps will fit the bill) became "friendly" to them, it now seems to put in some extra effort to take Selangor head on. Maybe there's an extra incentive since we're getting a new PM come March. Well, good for you if you get friendly traitors jumping to your side but nude photos? Well, that's a big big shame on our politics.

It was widely reported that Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong's nude photos were circulated to the public and this has created an uproar among PR leaders and supporters. I haven't seen any of them but it was reported that the photos were taken before the 308 tsunami and while she were sleeping; most probably unaware. Now, this is different from what we saw from the "Soi Lek's leaked VCD". Those were something unacceptable, because SL is a married man. Having sex with a woman in a hotel is all pre-planned.

Now, the Selangor opposition leader, Khir has called for Liza to resign. So he can have another shot for a by-election to reclaim S'gor? “This is about morality, whether the pictures were taken with or without consent is another matter, I cannot accept a lawmaker whose morality is questionable,” Khir told The Malaysian Insider. Since when is it immoral to go naked in your own private place? Maybe Khir never go naked before? So.... now I'm expecting all the leaders in the country to take shower with their clothes on. Sleep fully covered with thick dark blanket covered from head to toe. Even have sex fully covered! Is this what you mean Toyol?

I'm really sorry for Elizabeth Wong for this whole incident. Be strong. From now on the fight might just be even more dirtier. The assassination of the opposition has begun. Everyone knows that there are no such things as clean politics, but we Malaysian redefined the word DIRTY.

What a Beginning!

Wow! What a way to begin the year 2009, Year of the Ox in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This is my year, yeap... I was born 36 years ago; 3 round trips of the Chinese Zodiac.

Well, the year 2009 certainly begins with a bang for me.... literally! 1st, I lost my hand phone; thus all my contacts. Maybe it was destined, since it was a old phone and I was actually talking of getting a new one on the day I lost it. Maybe the phone got ears and got angry and ran away! Then things got worst. A few days later, my car was knocked from behind! Now the real mystery here is that no one actually knew when the car was hit or by what! It was parked in front of our house......

Then my pc crashed for the 1st time! It was infested with maybe 14-15 type of viruses/worms! Never happened before because usually the anti-virus software will take care of it. So, I got to copy all my photos and videos before formatting my pc. Screwed up big time!

So, I was quite happy to see the end of the Year of the Rat. New Year came and I've got 2 assignments from GTC. I really do feel that my luck for this year has changed. Many of GTC's groups has encountered problems with the tourist/guests but mine was plain smooth sailing! Made some money, sent-off some very satisfied guests.....

Even my fav footie club, Liverpool must be happy to see off the Rat and welcome the Ox. Prior to that we can only manage draws against lowly opponents and let Manure overtook us in the league table. Then suddenly, we banged in 2 goals (albeit last minute goals) by Torres to secure our 1st league double against Chelsea and closed the gap. Maybe things can be better after all.

I take this great opportunity to wish everyone a Very Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year. May the Year of the Ox brings us great health and wisdom to encounter all challenges. Peace to all and Good Luck Everyone!

Condemn the Murderers!

I'm compelled to write about my disgust about the crime that's being committed against the Palestinians. The world is watching Israel committing murders after murders and yet the silence is deafening!

We are being fed with live news coverage and shown how the Palestinians have suffered and pained. Lives are destroyed, people killed and maimed by 'smart' weapons. These are murders committed in broad daylight; by a push of a button and voila! Enjoy the fireworks!

What is the UN doing? What is our Government doing? The NGOs or anybody can send in as many memorandum as they want but as a Nation, our Government MUST make a stand and condemn this crime against humanity. The US; being the Satan's State main ally must get its lapdog to stop raining missiles on the Gaza immediately. The US is not doing its image any good for its continual support for the Regime. It's a safe bet to say that US is the most hatred country in the world. Good Luck Obama!

There are people calling for a boycott on US made produce and currency. For me, that's not the answer. It'll actually do more harm than good. Just think about it. We can stop drinking Coke; it's unhealthy anyway, stop wearing Timberlands and Nikes. We can go without McDonald's and KFC. But have we ever thought about our own economy and the jobs that might be loss? How many Nikes and Timberlands are made in the States? F&N can close shop but what about the people working there? McD and KFC can pack-up and go but what about the waiters and waitresses? These are Malaysians and looking at the bleak econ, a boycott will be a very bad idea.

So, a boycott is not the answer. It'll not pain the US but ourselves. What the world needs now is a united front to condemn the Israelis' air strikes and also the Hamas to do its part. We need everyone to come to their senses. Killing, suicide bombing and maiming is never going to work. The world has enough suffering to deal with already.

Please work together. We owe it to our future generations. Be fair to them!

My old phone K300i

What a way to start off 2009.... with a loss handphone! Urgh!!!!!

Today, I had lunch with Debbie and 3 other colleagues at Times Square. When we arrived there, we got a table and I immediately took my cellphone out of the pocket and left it on the seat. I'm wearing jeans, so having a phone sticking on to my butt is much less comfortable.

After lunch, we immediately went back to office and only when I was back into my place did I notice my cellphone is missing. Tried to call it and hoped that someone might just answer it. Yeah, I should've known better.... there's no HOPE! The calls went into voicemails indicating someone picked it up and switched off the phone!

So, no point crying over spilled milk. Called up Maxis and had my line suspended. Then walked to Times Square and went to the restaurant where we had lunch. Yeap... Confirmed lost. Disappointed, I walked to Maxis and get my new SIM Card.

Well, the phone was a very old model. From dinasour's period if you like. It's a worthless piece of technology that sometimes had problem charging and sometimes just freeze for no reason. However it hold dear to me because there are so so many contacts in it and my kids photos. Some are really priceless.

So now, I'm getting a loan unit from Claudia. She got a spare old Samsung phone. Will buy a new one soon. Maybe I'm destined to get a new handphone for the year 2009. The Sony Ericsson K300i has served me well.......

Well, 2008 came and gone. The days seemed to fly pass me and even before I noticed it, it's already 2009. Eventful year? Not really.

The most disappointing event for the year 2008 is that I was basically 'discarded' by my old travel agent. The boss, Ester might had heard something about me that's not true and decided not to have me as her guide. Everyone knows I've never gossip and hate gossips! Now that's OK since I'm a freelancer but what's unacceptable to me is the fact that I've been with her through thick and thin for the past 7 years. Every time there's a problem with the company, I've always gave her my support. Now, she don't even have the courtesy to give me a call and tell me that she's not going to use me anymore. Anyway, life must go on.....

One of the most memorable groups that I've guide in the year 2008 is the Filipino group. A week long group starting on X'mas Day and ended on New Year's Eve. It was on of the most pleasant group I've ever encountered. The guests were very friendly but what struck me the most is their humbleness. Being humble is a great virtue. I really had lots of fun. It has been quite a while since I've really enjoyed doing my work..... Filipinos are so much more different than the Chinese.

This morning, my wife asked me about my New Year resolution; if I do have any. Well, frankly speaking, I've never given it much thought. To me, New Year's Resolution is something you vowed to do, planned to do, swear you'll do it, forgot what to do by February and hope you've done it by year end. Is there really anyone that uphold their resolution?

So, it's a brand new year ahead of us. My wish? Just hope that the economy can turn weather the storm ahead and turns out fine. No more ISA. More happiness, peace and less suffering for mankind. My bank account can get a little bit fatter. And the most important of all, have a healthy year for all. Oh, not to forget..... Liverpool to be crowned Champion of England come May!

Egg boiling, hot spring style!

Last weekend, 12th December to be precise, I went to Cameron Highland for a mountain getaway with my family. It was planned a few weeks earlier when we had dinner and talked about a simple holiday with the kids since it's school holiday.

So, we gathered at our house early morning, 8:00a.m and sets off in two vans. Our first destination before heading to Cameron was the Sungkai Hot Spring. It is operated by Felda which to me did a decent job in turning a palm oil estate into a resort.

Once we reached there (after a two hours drive from KL), we booked 2 private jacuzzi pools. The usage is free if you opt for a Aryuvedic massage therapy. Debbie, Yvonne, Eddie and myself went for a hour-long massage each while the children played in the pool. The massage was good. Our masseurs came from India and I must say my first "Indian-styled' Aryuvedic massage is quite nice albeit oily. Maybe I'm not used to being oiled all over my body..... Nearly slept during the course!

While we're enjoying our dip in the hot spring and massages, the kids thrill themselves with boiling eggs in the hot spring. Got to say the eggs is tastier and more springy! Nice and yummy!

By the time we depart from this place, it's already lunch hour. So we stop by Tapah for a simple lunch. Nothing special.....

We reached Cameron Highlands about 5p.m. On the way, we seen something special. There was a rainbow, well, nothing special here but the rainbow was at our eye level! My son was asking if he can slide down it or not! Truly breath taking view!

It was chilly and the 1st place we stopped by is at a road-side market. Buying vegetables? Not really. We just stop by to collect the keys to our rest house that we rented from our friend. It was his childhood place, old and a bit run-down but it's still ok.

Dinner is steam-boat. Nice and it complements the chilly air perfectly. Then, basically it's chit-chat and went to bed early. Our next morning starts with a visit to the most well-known tourist spot in CH; BOH factory. A simply must go for any visitor especially the factory visit. Then we went for tea-break. The view is just amazing. Sipping tea, looking over the tea bushes and enjoying your piece of cake or scone is just perfect!

Another place highly recommended is the Smoke House. So English, and the scones is just the BEST! Expensive though.

The highlight of our tour is a cabbage plantation visit. The farm is operated by Debbie's friend, Moon. He took us through the rough terrain in his 4 X 4 and I must say this is by far the most exciting ride I've ever experienced! The kids simple loved it. Moon showed us his farm and some explanation on the art of seeing money grow on soil! It's really hard work being a farmer. By the way, Moon is a certified Chartered Accountant.

It was a nice trip for all. I really enjoyed the trip and looking forward for another trip with my family.

Another "I did not say that" politician

A loadful of dung!

Well well well.... what a truly wonderful country this is. As a politician in Bolehland, you can basically spew racial slur, going against the constitution or even utter vulgar words to your fellow MP and yet nothing can happen to you. Why? Because in Bolehland, even if there are recorders, TV or net broadcast and even mainstream media reported exactly what you said, you can still deny it with a straight face. Better still, later you can organise a press conference and tell the whole wide world that the media 'twisted' and 'misquoted' you!

The latest 'drama' that have grip the country is the call for vernacular schools to be closed and for Bolehland to have a single school system. Mukhriz made that call; saying it'll unite the country. Based on what he made that deduction is beyond me. Maybe his dad knows better.

After this gaffe, politicians from PR and even member sendiri from MCA and MIC have criticized his comment. Kit Siang even made a point that this comment is seditious and Mukhriz might even lose his MP if convicted. So, having shot himself on the foot, what can he do? Issue a denial statement la!

I think deep down inside, he knew he made a major blunder. Scoring a few cheap points for his UMNO Youth race is not worth the wrath he incurred from fellow Malaysians. So, today, it was reported that he has clarified that he didn't made calls for vernacular schools to be closed. What we wanted is the schools to be remain physically but the system be changed!

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! IT'S SO STUPID! It's like asking a Bak Kut Teh seller to stop selling this favourite Chinese dish while later said it was not a ban, just don't put pork in BKT! A school is just four sides of walls. You can even teach under a tree or pondok for all I care. But the medium must be protected by all cost. Extremist views like these must be stopped. Even Najib has defended this long established education system that makes us unique in Asia or probably the world.

Blaming our education system for a polarised society is so narrow in thinking. Why not he got the balls to questions the unfair policies instead! Oh, I forgot.... he'll stand to lose even his undies if he even dare to raise this up.

DAP has made a police report on this seditious comment. It's a waste of time and money because nothing will happen. After today, everything will be forgotten...and he has scored some cheap points for his election cause. Not to mention free publicity in the media!

Good job! Carry on with this and BN will lose more in the next election!

Single System School for Unity?

Mukhriz Mahathir

Mukhriz has call on the Government to abolish the current education system in the country and introduce a single school system to foster racial harmony. According to him, it's the only way to check racial polarisation. I don't think so.....

I think Mukhriz is just talking an 'Election Talk'. With UMNO's election round the corner, it's easy to see that these type of statements are whipped out to garner a few supporters vote. It's so narrow thinking and self contradicting.

He's been quoted to say that quarters who rejects his views should say why. One can't have equal rights with different type of school systems. As he put it, "You cannot have the cake and eat it too". So, in a different way, Mukhriz is all for unity, fairness to all, rejects the much talked about 'Ketuanan Melayu' and opt for Bangsa Malaysia? He's willing to stick his head out and go against the UMNO hierarchy?

I do think a single school system can work and most probably the way forward but only if our education system is separated from politics. Right now it's not possible, because our education is so much entwined with politics. A slight move and you'll see politicians from all over the country voicing out their opinions and score some cheap points.

The proposal can work if we are ready to discard our racial baggage. Do away with racial-based political parties as a start. Then, are we ready to accept that all Malaysians are equal? Do away with whatever policies that favours only certain races. The Government must help out the poor and the needy; from all races. Poverty affects everybody and is colour blind. Let the nation stand on its own two feet rather that certain quarters needing tongkat to help them walk. If our Government can take these important and significant steps and our people are mature enough, I'm sure, in no time, we'll be a 'Super Power' in SEA region. If we are ready, then a single school system with mother tongue being taught will be a great idea. As of now, the divide and rule tactics employed (thanks to the Brits) is a major obstacle in achieving a true unity in this country. Too much agenda, too many self-interest at stakes for all.

This statement will create some buzz among politicians and the public. At least will put him in the limelight for awhile. A cunning publicity move? Got him some paper space!

So, to me, it's just an 'Election Talk' by a Youth Chief aspirant. Good luck to you.

The Day My Dad Shifted....

Dad's ashes to be transfered to his new home

Last Sunday, 30th November 2008 was an emotional day for me and my family. For it was the day my dad moved to his new residence in Sendayan and leave behind his old "flat" in Seremban.

My dad practically 'stayed' at Seremban for almost 23 years. That's how long he left us, 23 years we lived without his love and affection. Going at a young tender age of 45 means we were left fatherless when we are still kids; more so my youngest brother.

His new place was a short distance from my sister's house. Located at the Sendayan area, half way to Port Dickson if taking the Labu-Sendayan way. While his old place was a bit crowded and stuffy, the new resting place is indeed much more refreshing and open. I'm sure my dad will be most pleased with his new 'condo'.

We reached Seremban for a simple buddhist ceremony to transfer my dad's ashes out. The monk took a snap shot of Ah Fai taking my dad's urn away as prove. Then we chanted 'Nam-myo-ho-reng-ge-kyo' while the monk did some ceremonial thing. After a short few minutes we were on our way to Sendayan! Debbie drove while I held my dad's urn tight.

On the way, it was interesting to mention that Xu Hom was so curios about the whole thing. He asked me and Debbie a lot of questions about his Grandpa that he never met. One thing that shot out from his mouth is that he would like to see his Grandpa's ashes! While, he got his wish!

Upon reaching Sendayan, we met the sales person and he co-ordinates the whole proceess of transfering my dad's ashes to a new urn (so it fits his 'condo'). This is the time the whole family get to 'see' my dad after a long 23 years. Xu Hom got to see him, finally.... not to mention us too! I was going to cry but I held my tears because I don't want my mom to feel sad. It was her decision after all to transfer my dad because she herself has already bought her place along side my dad. I know it was her wish all this time to be with the person she loved so much when she leaves us some day.

The whole process is hassle free and everything was done in a jiffy. We chanted for a while for my dad before we call it a day. I know my dad will be happy moving to a bigger and better environment. Maybe he'll feel sad leaving behind some friends and neighbours after 23 years. But he knows it will be worth it for its a double lot for him and mom.

Rest well, dad! We all missed you so so much!

World Heritage Listing No More?

The controversy surrounding the high-rise hotel projects in Penang that may jeopardise its World Heritage Site listing has now become more and more politicised.

Melaka's CM has now voiced his displeasure at the Penang State Government for allowing the developers involved to build high rise hotels in the Heritage zone and its surrounding. Maybe he's jumping into conclusion and try to score a few cheap political points (UMNO election round the corner). I believe the Penang State Government is still studying all aspect of solutions that will be acceptable to all.

Ali Rustam seemed to be baffled why Lim Guan Eng couldn't reverse the decision made by the previous adminstration. He must be joking! Things are not that easy, as the statement made by the previous admin had made it clear that they are afraid that the big players like YTL might just pull out from the state if the agreement is not being honoured. It will take great effort and a lot of good will to make a compromise for all to be happy. I reckon, reversing the decision might involve huge payout as compensations. Who will bear the cost?

As the norm in Malaysia's politics, it always adopt the 'I take credit, you take blame' stand. I'm sure everyone will harp that they are the one who got Melaka and Penang listed but when there are signs of troubles ahead, 'it's you who got me into this mess' accusations flying all over town. Why don't Ali Rustam give constructive views on how to solve the issue with Lim. Asking for a 'divorce' is balless! I don't think Melaka can claim to be a Heritage site based on its own merit because like it or not they need Penang and Penang needs them too.

Put politics aside, work on a solution. That will be the best way forward rather than talking rubbish and act like a hero. Maybe he thinks SRK can help Melaka maintain the listing even without Penang when he receives his Datuk title. DREAM ON, PAL!

Steven Gerrad, Captain Marvel!

Well, it was really great news when I heard that Liverpool has qualified into the last 16 of the UEFA Champion's League with a 1-0 home win over its French rival Marseille. Didn't watch the match coz its early morning and I don't have Astro's service. Considering the pressure from the outside for our home draw against a lowly Fulham (others always think that these type of matches always gives you 3 points), it was a huge relief.

Who else but captain marvel, Stevie G to put us into the next stage? He was sorely missed during the weekend match against Fulham due to a groin injury...... Fabio, he WAS INJURED! When he plays, the whole team plays. If he perform, Liverpool is a world beater!

We have qualified with a match remaining. Still 2nd in the group behind Atletico Madrid on goal difference. While it's important to top the group to avoid meeting with a seeded team next round, I don't think any Liverpool fan cares. The remaining match should and must be used by Rafa to field his 'second team' to gain invaluable European experience. Anyway, its common knowledge that we ARE the team in Europe.

So, with the credit crunch biting hard and the Yanks still stubbornly holding on to LFC, the qualification is indeed a relief to the owners for the monetary benefits it gives to the qualifiers. Another windfall is much needed in a club suffering from huge debt, no thanks to our two very dedicated owners!

So, with the next round secured, it give us some real breathing space and concentrate on our push for the EPL title. Maybe, just maybe we can pull a bit further from Chelsea with their draw in Europe. A little distraction for them can do us a world of good.

World Heritage logo

Well, it has been a long long time since I've touched my PC. Was away for a job for almost 2 weeks. 2 weeks of living on board a ship..... bored to death!

Urmmm... just in case you guys are wondering, I've not joined a shipping company as a sailor or something. Just that my tour assignment brings me to a 6D5N Star Cruise tour on board of the Gemini. 2 consecutive tours... so almost 2 weeks of floating in the Straits of Malacca. Not hard work, just 5 meals a day ma..... just boredom for being alone. At least for my second tour, I've got KK as my companion.

Our cruise tour made a tour stop at Penang, Krabi and Phuket (Thailand) and Langkawi before back to Port Klang before disembarking. When in Penang, KK and I made a short tour on our own. Went for a walkabout in George Town; the World Heritage Site. It was an easy walk since all those fantastic sites were near each other. Then we stopped at PTGA and met up with Leow and had a simple lunch with him.

George Town is a pretty remarkable place and can only be truly appreciated when on foot. Exploring the place needs some walking but not taxing on the feet. If you're too tired or hungry, there's always a coffee shop near you as Penangites loves to eat!

Places of interest that really struck us are like the Khoo Kongsi (and there are quite a lot of Kongsi in Penang), Dr Sun's residence, Kwan Yin Temple etc... I can't imagine how much sweat and effort are being put in to build these magnificent buildings. Surely a world heritage.

How pity it is for Penang to lose its World Heritage Site because of some development dispute in the Heritage zones. While the current state government has pointed that the previous administration for approving the projects, fingers and accusation are now being pointed to everybody except oneself for the blunders.

As quoted from the Star Online:

State Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said yesterday the status could be revoked as a 23-storey hotel project in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah was approved without the knowledge of World Heritage Committee (WHC).

The former state Local Government Committee chairman said the Low Yat Group project was first approved in 1995 but in 2005, the Barisan Nasional state government asked that the hotel be lowered to eight stories from 24, in accordance with the 18m height control set by the Penang Municipal Council.

“Our decision incurred the wrath of group executive chairman Tan Sri Low Yow Chuan who threatened not to invest in the state any more.

“I am now questioning the current state government’s decision to fast-track the approval without the knowledge of the WHC. If we ever lose the heritage site status, it will be due to this project,” he said. So much for being in charge the last time. No wonder no one took them seriously when they are in power.

So it seems that big developers are holding their balls!? Succumbing to threats? It seems now Penang might have to fork out some compensation to the developers if the high rise buildings were indeed need to be scrapped or redesign to meet the WHC standards of below 18m. Current Penang Government might lose money but Penang might lose more because of the previous State Government error.

It will be a pity indeed.

We survived a weekend!

We missed Deci....

Last weekend was the 1st time in 2 years that we had to 'endure' without a maid at home. 'Endure' may sounds drastic but believe me; our two boys are really a hands full especially the lil' adorable monster called Si Qian!

How I wished Deci is still with us. I was so used to laze around the house on weekends. Don't have to worry about anything; except preparing lunch or 'ta pau' something to eat. Deci is always there to take care of the rest. Juggling between house chores and looking after the two brothers seems to be next to impossible but she seems to be able to take care of everything.

Maybe we need to get used to these type of days fast. After 2 years of rest, it's hands on again! I've not touch the washing machine for so long it seems so alien to me. I'll need to clean the bathroom and mopping the floors again. Even our vacuum cleaner had taken a 2 years rest! Debbie will now need to iron our cloths; something she seldom does when Deci is here.

Right now, I'm hoping that Deci's sister will come here sooner, rather than later. Deci told us that her sister has voiced her intention to come over and work for us but only after they celebrated X'mas. They haven't been together for 4 years already; so a family reunion is a must.

Anyway, I think I'm addicted to Kakak! X'mas, please come earlier!

Si Qian's Deci kak bids Bye-bye!

Deci and Si Qian

Today is the day where my maid of 2 years bids bye-bye to us. Only I alone sent her off since her flight to Jakarta is a 7am flight (too early for the boys to follow).

Time flies for us all. We are indeed glad to say we got ourselves a good maid; not the brightest but at least honest and hard working,she took care of our boys really well. I think she bonded very well especially with Si Qian. Deci came into our home when Si Qian is about 6-7 months old. So you can imagine that Deci really liked him and the feeling is mutual.

When I saw her this early morning, her eyes were really swollen; a result due to not sleeping and I suspect she cried. She told me she didn't sleep because she wanted to accompany Si Qian and Xu Hom for one last time before she goes. The she finished the house chores and laundry around 2:45am before leaving to the airport around 3:30am. I don't think not many people can say thay had a maid that work until the final minute! Only Debbie sees her off at our door step.

I still remember when Deci first arrived, she was still like a country bum, skinny,dark and looked very 'dry'. I couldn't understand her 'Bahasa' because of her accent. She comes from East Nusa Tenggara. A lot of patience were needed to communicate with her and teaches her on what to do. We were her first employer as this is her first job. I remember telling her that we are easy people and told her that she can always talk to us if she needs help. I told her that her main priorities are our 2 boys especially Si Qian. House chores can wait....

Horror stories about maids running away, lazy, stealing or getting pregnant with some Indon men always linger in our mind. However, we're lucky because Deci knew what and why she is here for; definately not fooling around.

So, today we lost a great pair of hand and I believe that we (esp the boys) treated her as one of the family. We wanted her to extend her work and she too would like to stay but her family has been urging and begging her to go back. Maybe her daughter is missing her mom (she came here when her baby is 1 year+)

At the LCCT, I checked her in. Then I offered her to have a breakfast before she boards but she declined. Maybe she's too tired to eat. I saw her going through the immigration check point. Then she proceed to the X-Ray machine to have her hand carry luggage examined. That's the last time I see her.

Get Your Priorities Right!

To the Home Minister, please get your priorities right! Beef up security in this country because right now, criminal are like kings; not helped by your comment on the Chow Kit beat base!

Yesterday I had the shock when I received a call from my colleague, Janet to confirm the way to HUKM. Not suspecting anything, I told her she's on the right direction. Then, another colleague of mine, Claudia told me she's in hospital. Thinking that she's trying to pull a trick so, I told he "Sorry Wrong Number"! Then, I sensed something was wrong. Her voice is trembling..... the reason? Her elder sister was robbed by a Malay guy in front of her terrace house. Losing your valuable is OK, after all it's only money and stuffs but these maniac resorted to slash a hapless victim! As a normal reflex, her sister used her left hand to block the blow. The result? Her little finger was almost severed; just the skin attached!

It was a painful experience for her and her family. My wife and I were both very angry and at the same time felt the pain. When the doctor showed us the wound, my knees became weak, my legs felt like jelly. When we were at the hospital, the lady doc told us that she was the second victim of the day. The doc was at that time in a middle of a very tiring operation; try to save a guy's thumb; a result of being slashed after he was robbed! And the worrying news is that there are cases like these every week!

So, Mr. Home Minister. You are full of bullshit in carrying out your duties. Going after innocent people and your political foes seems to occupy you more where else normal people are now living in fear! We need protection against thugs, thieves and crooks that seems to be bolder each day. Stop going for Hindraf and its leaders. We, the people need solid and affirmative actions to combat crime; not trying to fend for ourselves. We are not living in cowboy town, are we?

Please do your job. Strengthen the police force. Stop talking bullshits because anything that comes from your mouth are nowadays considered as nation jokes! If you can't do it right, the the hell out of here and hopefully our PM can see some one better to take up this job. I doubt we can ever see a Home Minister lousier than what we have right now.

To Claudia, please send our best wishes and warmest regards to your sister. Tell her to rest well, be strong and we are sure the operation will be a big success.

Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS)

The recent announcement by the Selangor Menteri Besar that a Chinese is appointed as the PKNS acting General Manager has again caused a small ripple in the state.

Low Siew Moi, who was due for retirement, is a senior officer that has served the 44-year-old organisation as its deputy general manager (for corporate development) for the last 11 years. As such, she must have her strength and knows PKNS well enough to lead it albeit being just temporary until a more 'suitable' candidate is found.

What comes as a surprise is that there are people who felt offended with the appointment! They felt that it is an infringement of the Malay rights and it insults the Rulers! WHAT!? A Malaysian leading a Malaysian institution is an insult to the Sultans and Malays? You must be joking, pal! The Selangor Malays Residents Action Body led by its chairman Kamaruddin Raja Ab Wahid held a small demonstration outside the state secretariat building here to protest against the appointment. Plain stupid and shallow..... so colour of your skin determines what you can and cannot do. Heard of capability and meritocracy? Not helping, in fact trying to score some cheap points is the Former Menteri Besar Mohd Khir trying to fan the racial fan by critisizing Tan Sri Khalid. He said it was the Mentri Besar’s prerogative to choose a candidate but that it should have been done in consultation with officers.“Usually for a high post like this, the person must be a Malay. If I had done this (without consultation), then I would have been labelled as arrogant,” he said. So now Khalid is arrogant? I would rather have someone that's arrogant but fair than a racist... more so if he's a corrupt racist!

If these type mentality still exist, Vision 2020 will remain as just that. No wonder the much talked about JV between VW and Proton collapes. We're still so attached to the Ketuanan Mentality.

Until we embrace all Malaysians as Malaysians, we as a nation will never see progress. To move forward, we need all Malaysians not Malays, Chinese, Indians and the 'lain-lain'.

The police beat in Chow Kit was closed down. While query by the opposition, Syed gives a ridiculous answer.

What comes out from the mouth of our beloved Home Minister simple amazes me. In a written reply in parliament to Dr Lo’ Lo’ of PAS, Syed Hamid said the police beat base was located in a "dirty" area where there was a possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases. " The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers," he said. Amazing! For someone holding such a important and powerful portfolio, he should have known better to utter such rubbish!

Chow Kit and Lorong Haji Taib area are known to be criminal infested area; black area is you will. Hard-core addicts, snatch and petty thieves and also prostituion thrives in these places. So isn't it logical that the police should beef-up patrols and send more man power there? What are the messages that Syed is trying to send out here? That crime pays or the PDRM are just too chicken to fight crime? The adage that if you can't beat them, join them should apply? Jokes! Crazy jokes! Now, maybe he can now suggest that in order to protect the men or women in blue, they should be ISAed or like someone suggested a police beat be set-up in an army barrack. That will be a safe haven for them. Let the poor citizens fend for ourselves.

As Lame As It Gets!

While PM has agreed to an earlier 'power transition' after meetings with his deputy, his action has got huge approval from UMNO grassroots. No matter how hard he denies it, I see it as a gentle sacking from within his own party.... what a sad ending to the most powerful political figure in Malaysia.

Lame duck? YES! He was cornered by everybody; Anwar and PR from the outside while UMNO wanted him out ASAP. Shahrir has said 'lame duck' does not apply here.... hahaha still in denial in an attempt to save face for Pak Lah.

How else would the rakyat describe him? Retiring for the good of the country? That's the opposite! If Pak Lah wants to do the country good, he must stand up and fight! Reform pledges made him a popular figure thus a huge mandate when he lead BN to the best victory in history during the previous GE. When things not going smoothly; the recent GE result showed that the rakyat wants more to be done. He must carry on with his pledges; not just trying to manoeuvre a graceful exit. Is there anything such as a graceful exit in politics?

It was said that many of his reforms agenda were met with huge resistance from within. Zaid gave up and quits because he knew he was fighting a losing battle when his boss are not backing him up. When Muhyiddin wanted him to go citing grassroots sentiments, Pak Lah should act fast and not let the spark becomes fire. Look what happening now. He got cornered while Najib and Muhyiddin are the biggest winner. Indeed in this game Pak Lah loss big. The rakyat loss too!

So with UMNO now becomes a bigger bully, what is in store for the rest of us? Only time will tell.

So, the much touted date in our recent history has come .... and gone. Nothing has happened. Traffic is still busy as ever, hot like hell and still two opposing camps are waging a psycho war on each other. Great material to make a Hollywood Movie. Spike Lee, please get the rights!

While Pak Lah has called Anwar a bluff, still day dreaming about toppling his weak Government, Anwar has held a Press Con to announced that he has the numbers to form a new Government. As of now, it's just that. Just talk but nothing concrete to show. Is he lying and playing a wicked mind games on Pak Lah? He can't be so stupid to hold a PC and undermining himself if he got nothing to offer, right?

Yes, some might say 916 has gone, and Anwar is fast losing his credibility for empty talk and destabilising the country's political scenario. Well, to me 916 is not so much on the date itself. It's the meaning behind it. Only time can tell if 916 can really take off but sure this date has scared the hell out of BN. From the ridiculous 'study trip' to Taiwan to the sinister ISA crackdown on opposition members and a innocent reporter, BN is seen as desperately clinging to power. I want to see change in the mindset of the Ruling Party. Racist policies MUST go. Goons like Ahmad Ismail has tainted the BN image and challenged Pak Lah's authority for refusing to say sorry for his racial slurs. All these will make the rakyat regardless of race even more angry and wanted to see BN kicked out.

Is PR a better alternative? Anwar, Lim Kit Siang or others better than Pak Lah and Najib? I don't know. I really don't. What I know is that after 51 years of Independence, we seem to be even more divided. Yes, NEP has been drawn up to help the Malays. Well, if after 51 years and you still can't stand on your own, no NEP can help you! Furthermore, how many bumis actually benefited from these policies. Non-bumis felt side-lined. That's the reason we channelled our anger into votes during '308'.

So, it's now getting more interesting by the hour. PM refused to meet Anwar, so Anwar will have to make his next move. A very thrilling cat-and-mouse game indeed. Wits against wits. This is a chess game even Kasparov will be impressed. Spike Lee making a 'Chess game' movie, perhaps?

Making a Stand

After being fed with so many bozos' shows, finally, we Malaysians were presented with a real man that stood by his principles; and he comes from UMNO! Senator Datuk Zaid Ibrahim; the de factor law minister has tendered his resignation to Pak Lah for his views on the ISA. He objected the use of ISA on civilians and frustrated with the reforms he was tasked to carry out. A noble and right thing to do. Entrusted by PM to reform the judiciary system, Datuk Zaid is known to be an out-spoken person.

He gave his views on the recent ISA crack down on Tan, RPK and Teresa and to show his disapproval, he walked the talk. What a man! Our country needs more men like him rather than 'Yesmen' or racists or Bozo the clown! And he's standing to his decision to quit even when the PM asked him to reconsider.

Even some MPs have voiced their concerns. Gerakan and MCA's big shots have made known of their disgust in the way the arrest were carried out. Even some are questioning the wisdom (or lack of it) of the Home Ministry when he gave his statements during the Press Conference on the crackdown. Not a clever excuse being used to detain Ms Tan.

ISA might still be needed but is there any justification to use it on normal civilians? Are they planning an armed struggle or insurgency? Communist members, perhaps? Maybe the Government itself is not very confident in its own set of laws in the country. Too drastic, too stupid! Panic perhaps, as the '916' draws closer?

Anyway, it's good to see a Minister made known his stand on the draconian act. I think he has lost confidence in the leadership, thus tendering his resignation letter seems to be the only way out of this mess. Maybe Bozo should follow Zaid's footstep and save the nation more embarrassment.

Maybe, hope is still there and I salute you, Datuk Zaid!

Looks funny but deadly!

I live in a very funny country where ministers like to crack a joke or two just to get attention or made himself heard. Entertaining the world and turn us into the laughing stock of the world seems to be their utmost duties!

Last week saw 3 very high profile arrest in Bolehland. Big criminals that deserves big treatment from the Government. Their crime? Well, threat to national security.... RPK was arrested for his articles or writing that was deemed too dangerous to even read in the Internet. His MT site was blocked but then unblocked after much protest. Anyway, as the editor, RPK has to be punished!

Another to be hauled up was the reporter that has reported the 'Squattergate'. Well, the joke of the year as the Home Minister said that she was detained under the ISA because her life was threatened! Oh... how touching, the caring government putting you in jail to make sure you are safe!

Theresa Kok was the last to be detained for allegedly sending a petition to request for azan prayers to be toned down. Well even the mosque committee has denied that Theresa was involved but heck, the Government needs to flex its muscle! After all, they can use the ISA on anyone, anytime, anywhere! Well, not anyone. BN are immune to it.

With Anwar's threat to take over the Government by Sept 16, BN is now pushing the panic button. Never mind if '916' will or will not materialise, but BN are taking no chances. Show some muscle, show some intimidation. Shut you up or put you into a tax-payers' sponsored solidarity living/vacation in Kamunting.

Maybe the Home Minister needs to remain just that; stay at home. Write a few jokes and entertain us more.

Face Changing Malaysian Style!

Anyone been to Sichuan must have seen one of the best art act in the world, the Face Changing. It's so precious, it's been said only male shall inherit this dying art. Well yesterday, millions of Malaysian TV viewer were served with another classic 'Face Changing' act, made in Malaysia style, courtesy of Ahmad Ismail.

By now, most of us should have known who this idiotic racist is. World famous for putting us in the map of the world with his unrepentant racist slur against the 'immigrant Chinese'. Well, he did his best to fire the appetite by changing from a racist to a tortoise and yesterday, the ultimate hooligan act, in front of a press conference! Talk about arrogant, stupidity, desperate to save his sorry ass and of course, his core act.... RACIST!

While still unrepentant and making a strong stand not to apologise, he has now shifted the blame on Gerakan, the press and the reporter! Thinking of suing...! Hahaha! He must be the joker of the year. Who is he to demand that Gerakan to be sacked from BN. He must remember, he's a small fry in the party. Undermining the PM authorities? You bet! He biting more than he could ever chew even though he got a really big mouth, I must say. Yet again, the press has misquoted him for referring to the history. Maybe he needs to do a medical check-up on his blood ancestry. See if he got family ties back in Timbuktu or Zimbabwe! Or a brain scan. Maybe not coz you can scan something you don't have!

The press conference has its high moment where his racist supporters tore up Dr. Koh's photo in front of the media! Class act I must say because he has managed to undermine BN so called power-sharing concept, respect for others and not to mention it's a ultimate insult to Gerakan and it's acting head! PM... where are you? You must do something quickly and be firm on this matter. Ahmad Ismail and the others UMNO leaders in Penang that supported his stand are racist to the core and will be the cancer in BN.

So now, Penang MCA and Gerakan have severed all ties with UMNO Penang. A very strong signal that they want something affirmative to be done quickly. Pulling out from BN is very real if things don't improve. If even now Ahmad decides to transform into a chicken and apologise, the damage has been done. BN will surely face an even bigger task to retain power come the next election if assholes like him are not removed!

Tortoise to teach history?

Oh.... It was only a small understanding regarding the racist insult on the Chinese. It's the stupid press that twisted his words and used it against him. For that I don't think he should apologise.

Well, after so many days of disappearing into thin air that even the PM can't get him (he went to BangCock for sepak takraw la....) the tortoise finally resurfaced from nowhere. The dumb ass has reiterated that he will never apologise because saying sorry is for people who had done wrong. He did nothing wrong, so why should he apologise to Malaysians in general?

Now let's see.... his excuse for saying the Chinese are just 'pendatang' that does not deserve equal rights is based on history! Yes, you read it right! No word twisting here.... The ass reads! He studied history of the Chinese Immigrant, and based on facts, he called the Chinese 'pendatang'. I guess it applies to the Indian communities as well. He got his point....

So I guess people like Yap Ah Loy, Chan Sow Lin, Loke Yew, Chow Kit and Tun Tan Cheng Lock (plus many more great 'pendatang') are just labourers or descendants of coolies brought in by the Brits to Malaya. Great theory asshole! I think this donkey flopped history test. Chinese immigrants came to Malaya mostly during the 1840's where after the Opium War in China, tried to fled the country to find a better living. This coincides with the tin mining boom, thus more and more Chinese came over.

After weeks of intense pressure from 'friends and foes' alike, UMNO has finally admitted defeat and apologise for the 'squatters' remarks by Ahmad Ismail. Please note I omitted the title as I don't see this idiotic goon is fit to be called a Datuk.

This is the right gesture by UMNO to own up to the mistakes made by its member. As I said earlier, let this be a lesson to all; not to question others and claim supremacy of one race. I believe UMNO, or in fact all political parties should take a serious look at their members and make sure no one makes the same mistakes again.

Now we are waiting for the 'appropriate' action to be taken against him. But before that to take place, where the hell is this racist goon? Fled the country? Please, if you have balls to utter these words, be a man and own up to it! Don't hide under mama's skirt. Now, the whole Chinese community is waiting for his personal unconditional apology; that is if he dares to come out from his shell. I always thought he's the real 'hero'; gung-ho and fiery with his speech. But it turn out that he's the ultimate coward; a real 'zero', we Chinese called tortoise!

Anyway, I don't care if he apologise or not; for me he's already done enough stupid things to render him useless in my eyes. He can sulk and said the press misquoted him for all I care. He's my tortoise, a tortoise that will never win any race and he'll carry this name for the rest of his life.

A bitter pill to swallow....

Finally, after much pressure, UMNO through the DPM has issued an public apology for the racist remarks made by the Bukit Bendera UMNO division head during the PP by-election. Though it is a bit too late, at least it is a good sign that UMNO has finally accepted responsibility for the mistake made by its member. This serves as a big embarrassment for Pak Lah's Government.

"We hope that the non-Malays will not be too disturbed with the statement and we apologise if it has incurred the sensitivities or unhappiness over the statement".

"We apologise, Umno apologises although it is not our statement but it is a statement made by one of our division leaders. It is totally unwarranted and does not reflect the position and the attitude of Umno or the leadership of Umno. We regret it very much," Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Umno deputy president, was quoted.

This serves a lesson to all that Malaysians are Malaysians and ALL have contributed to this country. Those in power must remember that it is the rakyat that put them where they are; not the other way round.

Now, I'm waiting for the appropriate action to be taken against this racist goon as promised by the DPM. ISA or Sedition Act, maybe? Better be good.....

Much has happened since the fateful day when Anwar trounced BN in the Permatang Pauh by-election. He has since be sworn in into Parliament and been nominated to be the Opposition Leader. PP folks will continue with their daily lives......

So what about this goon known as Datuk Ahmad Ismail? He's still a Datuk, still an assemblyman for Bukit Bendera and he still see no action taken against him for his 'squatter' remarks on the Chinese community.

A lot of people are angry with his remarks; and that includes BN component party members. The MCA has been very vocal and the Gerakan too has voiced its displeasure. In today's papers, Ong Tee Keat was quoted as saying “Each component party should have an internal mechanism to take disciplinary action against any party member who makes racist remarks.” Fellow member, Fong Chan Onn was quoted saying,"The matter of citizenship for non-Malays should not be questioned, just as some religious issues should not be called into dispute. An apology from Ahmad is not enough. A sedition charge should be considered against him,”

All these strong words reflects the sentiments of Malaysians generally the Chinese towards Ahmad's idiotic remarks. Don't forget, Anwar won by a bigger margin even though the voters turnout was lower. It shows even the Malays are rejecting these racial discrimination stance by UMNO leaders.

What's more disappointing for me is that Pak Lah chose to 'protect' his goon. It shows the leadership (DPM included) is weak and not serious in fostering inter-race relationship. As party whip, the DPM is a wimp!

Tan Sri Annuar Musa is even more stupid with his comment that those remarks were made on his personal capacity. He even compared the racial remarks with Gerakan threat to pull out from BN. Any relationship with that? Gerakan's threat may have hurt BN or disrupt party's harmony but that's your internal problem. It has nothing to do with the others. How about your talk with PAS? He's just so shallow, justifying the remarks....... Congrats for having these people as our elected reps!

Until an appropriate action is taken, I doubt many people will still have any confidence in the present Government.

A goodie budget or no, we want justice not sweets!

Thank you MCA, long seen by the opposition as the small brother that dare not talk back to his taiko by raising its voice on the racist remarks by one of UMNOputras goon!

Ever since Dr Wee voiced out his dissatisfaction over the remarks during the Permatang Pauh by-election, the sentiment has now turn into a very vocal protest by the MCA; particularly the Youth Wing. What a stand! What a brave move, and for this I salute you!

UMNOputras must wake up from their deep slumber. Isn't 308 enough a lesson already? Why must those kind of hurtful remarks must be made? To win over Malay votes? That's too shallow and only idiots will think along those racial lines! (I bet there are a few more in BN). Anwar won many votes mainly because voters are generally fed-up with BN antics. Body blows, sodomy, religion, race and what not are their only ways to get votes rather than concentrating in telling the rakyat that we are gearing for a change for the better. Sudah basi la.... will and never work!

So, the MCA has organised a signature campaign to demand that this bugger offer an apology for branding the Chinese as mere 'tumpang-tumpang' only. As if the Chinese has contributed nothing to this wonderful country. We hold the same IC as you do, asshole! Even Gerakan has taruk UMNO for this issue! UMNO will now have to face the MCA and the Chinese in general and convince us that they are not racists.

Hero for the night

Yahoo! We are through to the group phase yet again! The owners must have been very relief to see Kuyt send us through with a goal after another laboured effort against Standard Leige.

Well, Rafa can count Dirk Kuyt as his lucky European charm for his latest exploit. Known to be a exceptionally good marksman when playing in the Dutch League, Kuyt have somehow failed to live up to our standard. However, he made up for his lack of goals with loads of untiring runnings. This morning's goal is just a sweet reward for our workhorse!

So, another assault on the European stage is on the card. What worries me is the laboured performance to produce goals against well organised teams. Sunderland, Boro and now Leige has proven to be tough cookies for us. Luckily, the lads kept on pushing til the last minute.

What spoilt the night for us is the loss of captain Gerrard to a groin injury. He hasn't been 100% and needs to be operated on ASAP. Might miss our blockbuster game against ManU.

Just hope he'll be back soon and back with a bang. As for now, let us all savour another European win.

Well, tonight will be one of the biggest home game since the season begins. A must win match against Belgian champion; Standard Leige.

Rafa's team has been winning 2 league matches on the trot but their performance have come under heavy fire. Scrappy at best against teams (including Standard) they are supposed to steamrolled over. Last weekend home match against Boro is a good example. We gave away possession too many times too easily and our set pieces are crap! Even Xabi had a nighmare game. Only intervention from the vice captain and the captain ensured a dramatic last minute come from behind win. Frankly speaking, Boro deserved at least a point!

Such were our poor show, the only positive that we can take is that the mentality to win has improved. Never say die attitude and make your own luck. Rafa has gave assurance that tonight the team will play much better and deliver! A scored draw will mean end of the road for us.

With basically a full team to pick on and playing at Anfield, I'm sure we'll progress to the group phase. Going past this hurdle will bag us 16million pounds! So much riding on it but with our European pedigree, I'm 100% sure we'll make it!

It was reported that the MCA Youth will demand an apology from Datuk Ahmad Ismail over his racist remarks during the Permatang Pauh campaign rally.

Racist like him will drift BN more and more away from the rakyat. Playing up race or Malay sentiments to garner votes are so out of fashion. The result yesterday shows and result don't lie. Anwar are getting votes from Malaysians! So, we don't buy that kind of bullshits! Some nut heads will never learn..... They'll hurt the party even more with their antics.

Don't they ever see it? Are they so so blind to the obvious? The people are rejecting BN time and again whenever the race card is used! Uttering racist remarks will only make more people irrespective of race to feel offended! Divide and rule tactic is dead and buried, my friend.

It'll be now interesting to see how the Youth Wings from both camps react. Having just lost an important by-election, now they must sit down and talk. Failing which might see even more Chinese getting upset.

On another note, fresh calls for Pak Lah to quit has resurfaced. Personally, I think PM should stay. If there's anyone is to be blame, then Najib got to take the stick. After all, he's the head honcho for the BN machinery. Wrong and bad moves to attack Anwar relentlessly. Should have focused on the policies......

Now the BN Government will need to keep an eye on Anwar. He'll be sworn in soon and will take his rightful place in the Parliament. Juicy stuffs!

Anwar has announced his arrival!

THE RAKYAT HAS SPOKEN! ANWAR IBRAHIM HAS ARRIVED!

Victory was especially sweet for Anwar Ibrahim as he makes his extraordinary comeback into Parliament with a huge win over Arif Shah and an unknown Hanafi Hamat.

While he savours his victory, Arif can walk with his head held high. It was a big ask for him to get anything out of this by-election at the 1st place. After all, Permatang Pauh is Anwar's fortress. He ALWAYS win there; including his wife. So, it was an uphill battle from the start and he knew it. Kudos to him for being brave and gave a good fight eventhough his votes count has dropped; maybe indicating the rakyat wants change.

As for Hanafi, as expected he lost his deposit. Standing for this election is always a lost cause, and why he did it, the reason only known to him. No one gave him a chance.

I've always expected Anwar to win but not the margin of his victory. I thought that his majority will be lower than the 13k obtained by his wife due to a few factor; polling date, sodomy cases, labelling him as a Chinese agent by BN and big guns form BN going all out to woo voters. So, it was a real surprise to see his majority exceed 15k. BN needs to do some hard thinking and post mortem on why the rakyat rejects them. Maybe race-based politics is dying. A two major party system ala the Democrate and Republican in the US might just work.

So, the real battle for Anwar starts now. He'll make his grand entry into our politics. Let's all hope there will be change for the better for all Malaysians!

Will he win?

Permatang Pauh is all set for the final showdown in what is belived to be the biggest by-election Malaysia has ever witnessed! It's a do or die for Anwar Ibrahim, the de factor leader of PKR and the 'glue' of PR.

His chance of winning seems bright even though he's agains the might of the BN election machinery. For 10 nights, big guns on both sides held ceramah and talks and tried to discredit their opponent. This has to be the dirtiest election in history.

While Najib leads the line for Arif Shah, Anwar can call on the support from DAP and PAS. Surveys carried out by Merdeka Centre for Opinion Research has shown not many of the voters are concerned or believed in the sodomy case against Anwar; something that will bug him even if he wins.

I personnaly hope that Anwar will win. I'm not concerned about the margin, just give him a chance to enter Parliament. That will make our Parliament more 'colourful'! As for the formation of a new Government, I'm not too sure. I hope it can happen, but not now.

Maybe we all need a paradigm shift, maybe Malaysia needs a shift. After 50 years of Merdeka, maybe that's a good thing for all Malaysians. Race based policies needs to be reviewed to give all a chance.

As for now, things will have a clearer picture after 5pm. By tonight we will know.

Will he be all smiles after tomorrow?

That's it folks! Come tomorrow, 26th August 2008, we will see one of the most watched and anticipated by-election in Malaysia's colourful history.

Will Anwar Ibrahim be voted into Parliament or his challenger Arif Shah create history for BN for defeating the PKR de factor leader? Time will tell, the Permatang Pauh's voters will definitely tell!

Both camps have expressed confidence with both claiming having good support from the rakyat. Arif even went on to say he'll will with a min 500 voters, maybe even touching 5,ooo! Big words indeed.

This by election must have been the most watched and eagerly awaited. Not just an ordinary by-election but one that may have a far more bigger implication on the Malaysian society as a whole. Anwar made no secret of his desire to return to Parliament and form a new Government; a date given on 16th Sept 2008. While to do that, first, he must win in PP.

Whether a new Government can be formed on that day is still very much a doubt but certainly not impossible. This by-election has seen much accusation being hurled by both camps, some just wild allegation, some are personal attacks, some facts..... some half truths......makes great readings. However, I'm getting tired of this, frankly. I just wanted it to be over without much problem.

Penang has announced a public holiday for this important vote-casting day. DPM has criticized it; but the EC cocked it up first. Why 26th of August? Conspiracy theory? Well, that's another issue. Why not on the just concluded school holiday? Even the Education DG has announced that schools to be closed.......

So, let's all be civil, cast your votes properly. Show the world that Malaysian Democracy is free and fair.

It's BPL time again!

Well, it's weekend again! Yahoo! Time for BPL watching is here again... actually, it started last week but for me, the season starts now for our 1st home game against Boro.

The away game against Keano's Sunderland was scrappy at best. But what's important was the 3 points; courtesy of a screamer by Torres. So this weekend game at Anfield will definitely see a better side; hopefully another 3 points on the table.

With some Olympians coming back and reporting for duty, I bet the formation adopted by Rafa will be a more attacking one. Babel is here. Only Masch is still duty bound in Beijing. With the Barry transfer saga closed, I hope that Rafa can concentrate fully on this assignment.

What's interesting is that Boro's winger, Downing is a target for us since Barry's move has collapsed. After this match he might be wearing Liverpool's Red! Hope he got a good match but a bad result!

Hero in hot demand!

Well, to me, that's the case! Why the heck must our badminton hero be flown to Permatang Pauh to receive his RM300,00 reward for a Olympic Silver? That's abuse of power!

Totally unnecessary to use a national hero to fish for vote. Not to mention a waste of taxpayers' money for all the flying around by the big guns of BN. So now BN (UMNO) can show the world that they are not racist? C'mon.... you can do better than that!

I'm personally a bit disappointed with Chong Wei. To be fair he has said if Anwar were to invite him, he'll go there too. But why can't we leave sport as it is? Politics should never ever encroached into sports or education territory at the 1st place. Just because Chong Wei got a silver, the candidate(s) would want to rub some of his 'ong' so that he can win in PP?

Arif Shah has denied Chong Wei's presence as a political gimmick. Either he's right or BN has got a lousy sense of timing.

Anyway, with or without our Olympic silver medalist, I think deep down inside he knows he's facing a uphill battle. Come August 26th, we'll know if Chong Wei's 'ong' works or not......

Renovation = hard work!

Renovation is hard work!

Went to office quite late today, reached there about noon. Reason? Well, Debbie and I had a on-site meeting with Kenny, the main renovation contractor for our new home in Sri Permaisuri.

Basically, just to have a discussion on where to relocate and/or add electrical power points around the house. Tiles selection for our toilet and wet kitchen has also been made.

There was a small issue with the size of our main door. The frame was set at 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Debbie wanted a 8 feet tall door. But Kenny recommended 7 feet (as a standard) size door because if 8 feet is used, the main entrance looks a bit wierd since our house is not a big one. The door then would looked like a big mirror wall! Finally we all agree on the 7 feet door.

So, basically, it's all set. Kitchen cabinet and wardrobe will then cost us a bomb. I think we're prepared for that. The kid's room a/c points are finalized. Laminate flooring will come in soon. Another big bill!

Anyway, glad the house is taking shape. By next month, we can begin to move in; hopefully!

Human touch knows no colour

Now that's a big slap in the face for those students that suffered the humiliation by their teacher calling them names!

Having protested and reported their teacher for racial slurs against the Indians, the teacher was immediatedly transfered out from the school. What seen as a punishment for her shameful act was a 'reward' to a better and nearer school to her house! What's more painful is that the reason given for the transfer is for her safety rather for the racist slur made by the teacher! Big humiliation!

Now the Education Dept has given her the ultimate punishment; A WARNING! Yeap, you read it right, a warning, that's all!

"As one of the steps taken to cool down the issue, the teacher was placed temporarily in the Selangor education department's counselling unit. The department counsellor will be working with her,"said the Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom ."The ministry regrets the incident which occurred during a class at the school on July 18. It also caused dissatisfaction among the parents at the school," said Alimuddin. The ministry, he added, regarded the case as solved and hoped all parties would not raise the issue again.

So, that's all? This really doesn't do justice to the students. Now let's see what MIC says....

Merdeka on 31st August will have no meaning to all affected......

LP16 YO!

I received an e-mail form a long lost friend, Joanna last week. She's getting the LP16s together for a gathering to commemorate our 10th anniversary being LP16. Can you imagine it? 10 years!

I have a love hate relationship with LP. Loved the togetherness, hate those LP talks/coaching! Freaking hate it when everyone 'tends' to know more than you do and try to guide you.

I still remembered the community service that we chose and did with excellent result. Hospice Klang benefited as much as I did. I still remembered our LP cheer. I still love our LP song; 'High' by Lighthouse Family. Whenever I heard this song, I just can't resist the LP feel in me...

I've lost contact with most of my LP friends. Once a while, I bumped into Jeffery, met Jo at wedding...... I really missed my buddy, Susie Goh when I'm writing this blog. Missed the good ol' days!

Happy 10th Anniversary, LP16.

Toilet has shrinked in size but remains functional.

Hole-in-a-wall, just like a place in Langkawi!

Well, took some photos of my new house. Still a big big mess with cement, mortar and bricks laying around.

Made some inspection this morning. Was lucky to find out some discrepancies with the design that we agreed on. Told the p.i.c to rectify the problems. Anyway, no big deals.

With the wet work taking shape, maybe another 2 weeks or so before other work can commence. My doors/windows will come in later. Then the laminated flooring. Debbie will take care of those coz she knows someone. Then the final part will be the painting of the whole house. My sister recommended a painter for me; still haven't contacted him though. We reckon that the furnitures and electrical items could wait..... Budget a bit tight la....

So, slowly but surely the house is taking shape. It was a long wait from the day we paid our deposit but when the final product is delivered, I'm sure it's all worth while.

WALL-E

I've just watched a very nice, heart-warming movie with my son. Guess what, the actors/actress aren't even human! Wall-E is a nice movie for all in the family.

It's a story about a robot called Wall-E, left behind on earth when the human escaped due to the conditions became unbearable to stay on. Well, I won't say more; in case if you are going to catch this fantastic movie. Won't spoil it for you!

A warm fuzzy love story, unfolds. But to me, apart from the love and 'feelings', the more real issue is the trash that builds up on our mother earth. I would say, the movie has exaggerated, but trash build up is very real. That's why, we all need to recycle, reuse and reduce!

The people at PIXAR has again scored big in animated movies. "Nemo", is good but it think this one is better. They raised the bar so high that I doubt anyone can better them.

So, go ahead, bring your family to watch this movie during the school holidays. The message is clear for all to see. Learn something and enjoy the movie as well.

My heroes this week!

Well done Chong Wei! You have done us proud by winning a silver at the Olympics! Many Malaysians were glued to their seats to see you at the podium for this historic feat!

So, for once the nation is united and being colour blind. Even the warring parties at Permatang Pauh stopped their activities for a while to watch the game.

So, it's been a good weekend for me. Liverpool opened the 08/09 season with 3 away points in the pocket when Torres struck a late winner against a much improved Sunderland. The most expensive player in Liverpool's history seems to be a bargain buy!

The only damper is that I've lost my voice on Sunday. Was working and bringing a group of Chinese tourist. All seems OK in the morning but disaster struck after lunch. Suddenly, my voice becomes coarse and in the late evening, it's all gone! First time in my life I have to communicate with my guests in sign language! No, not those used by the dumb and deft, but 'normal' signs. Funny but not funny at all.

So, I got to call up the company and get a urgent replacement to take over. Just too bad, but I can't work without my voice. So, now I'm back to my office..... Just hope with lots of water, normal service will be resume soon!

Tanggal 31, bulan Lapan Lima Pulah Tujuh........! That's the start of the 'Merdeka' song by the brilliant Sudirman. Just too bad he got to go when he's at his peak.

Come August 31, Malaysia will be 51 years old. Middle age and now facing a crisis. Never before the situation in which her children are behaving so badly. Instead of fostering closer ties between the different and unique ethnic society, now, we can be seen as more and more further apart. Malays seems to be more Malay, so are the Chinese and the Indians.

We are becoming more childish; arguing about things that we should not. Malaysia is for all, not just a supposedly superior race. Leaders in this country are not helping either; always giving out veiled threats (May 13th) whenever they think their position is compromised. Those 'I warned you so...', 'I told you so....', 'Don't play with fire.....', 'Don't stir the hornets' nest....' should just stop. Sedition Act or ISA should be abolished.

I send my son to school this morning. When I went into his classroom, I felt joy and frankly speaking, I wished the leaders of this great nation can be just like them; color blind. The kids were there, sitting on their small stools, talking, playing, doing whatever. These are REAL people, the future of our nation but somehow, I believe, when they grow up, things will be different if the current leaders don't do something about racial integration. 'Malaysianise' IS A GOOD THING!

I've always look forward for any new Petronas' Merdeka advertisement. They never fail to make feel good being a Malaysian. But will that be enough? Sekolah Wawasan? Will money spent on NS worth it if others still harp on race and/or religious matters?

Please grow up, Malaysian. Don't be over sensitive. No one in this world will ever question anybody rights, ever! This is a country for all and let's give our best to make Malaysia proud. Give her the best birthday present we can ever give.

Well, Liverpool's first competitive match; the Champions League Qualifying match in Belgium ended in a poor 0-0 draw. Even though the opponent, Standard Leige is the Belgian Champ, with our quality, we should have got the job done.

Instead, it was the home side that pressed on, and only Pepe's heroics earned us a undeserved draw. Rusty? Well, we played some good footie in pre-season friendlies. Lack of fire-power? Keane and Torres were there! Maybe it's the 'ugly' Green away jersey. Yuck! Just like their performance. Yes, I'm disappointed, but I still have faith in Rafa and the boys!

So now, we are the favourite to go through with the home match. However, we can't let Standard set the standard. If they score once, we need 2 goals to go through. So, we need the goals with big money at stake. Watch out Standard, we gonna kick your ass!

This says it all!

Malaysia as many noted is a country blessed with abundance of natural resources. You want rubber? We have it. You want palm oil? We have it! You want timber? We have it! Gas? Petrol? Tin? Basically we got everything under the sun except for diamond and rubies!

For such a rich country to fall so far behind in terms of development compared to it's "poor" cousin, Singapore is something the Government needs to look into urgently. Much of it has to do with the policies in place. We are bleeding to death; a disease commonly known as brain drain!

I know, the race and religion issues are something more or less a taboo in this country. Speak on it, you might get slapped with the Sedition Act or the ISA. But can't the people in charge wake up? No one in this country is questioning the Malay rights. It's already guaranteed in the holy constitution. But brain drain is a very real issue; an expensive one it is! Government has tried to lure back our professionals back to their homeland with incentives and what not but the end result? The adage "prevention is better than cure" can be more accurate and true. Why this people leave at the first place? Money? Perhaps.... but the main thing to me is that most of them felt unwanted at the 1st place. We did the hard work educating these people from Standard 1 but it's Singapore or other countries that reap the benefits!

Now it seems that the racial temperature has gone up a notch or two. Bar Council was criticised for holding a open forum on religious matter. Then UiTM students held demos and marched to send a memorandum to the S'gor MB for proposing to open 10% of UiTM to non-bumi. Then PPIM project director came out blasting the MB saying there was no need to sideline Malay rights. "If something like this is allowed to happen, then there will be a worrying situation where many Malay institutions will crumble and be 'Malaysianised'.

WHAT? "Malaysianise" is now a bad thing? So the slogan for our 51st Merdeka day 'Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan' don't hold water anymore? This is crazy. Yes, I understand his stand and I respect it but these are strong words! What about the racist teacher that utter racial slurs against her Indian students? Well, she got the punishment, if you consider getting transfer to a better school and nearer to home as one!

The education ministry has fail miserably in fostering racial harmony. In fact the whole Government fails us even after 50 years of independence. Discard racial policies/politics. Don't give the impression that the Chinese, Indians and the 'lain-lain' don't contribute to the growth of this lovely country.

Malaysia is for Malaysians; not just Malay/Chinese/Indian and 'lain-lain'!

Backyard. A new maid room will be contructed

Toilet to be reduced in size

Kitchen to be converted to dining hall

Front wall to be demolished and extended

Finally! After more than a year after we paid the deposit for our town house, works on renovation has begun! After all the red tapes and maybe incompetence of local authorites and frustration dealing with the seller's lawyer, we can now look forward to move into our "new" house. All those frustration has now turned into relief, a big one that is!

Renovation will takes roughly a month or so. We have only confirmed the wet work to be carried out. Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, doors, painting the house, electrical items and fittings/accessories and wood flooring will all come at a later stage. So far, the quote is RM40k (just the wet work); and we anticipate the cost to go another RM30k or so...... painful, but worth it, I hope. Plain bad luck for the transfer to drag for so long. If it could finalise earlier, I'll save at least 20-30% for renovating the house.

We are still shopping around for best possible bargains around. There are a lot of "sale" these times. Furniture and others can wait for time being. One thing is for sure. Our glass windows and doors will be the best in quality/pricing; courtesy of my sister and her husband. Hehehe... at least we save some money.

We have been renting our current place for a few months already. Just hope the reno work can go on smoothly, and we can all move in by mid of September. Since Eddie and my Mom-in-law's place is just behind me (the main reason why we bought this house), it will save me a lot of time and petrol money for sending Xu Hom to school and Si Qian to his house. No more waking up at 6:30am! Yahoo!!!!

Anyway, just glad that work has started, we'll move into a brand new environment soon.

Police keeping watch at the Bar Council HQ

With the recent demonstration or protest to disrupt the open forum organised by the Bar Council, I can see that some (or most) of the Malaysian public is still unable to act rationally to discuss topics labelled as "sensitive". I was appalled by the words used by Ministers that I interpreted as a veiled threat; word like "don't play with fire", "question the right....." Totally uncalled for.

What's so threatening is a matured open forum being held in a closed premise? If the forum is to question the rights of any race or criticize any religion, by all means close it down. Drag those responsible/organisers to court. But no! Why can't everybody sit down and have a good open forum and talk about issues that affects every Malaysians? What about our rights in our own country? Why the authorities don't pursue matters that's more threatening, i.e kerosene bombs thrown at Dato' Sharizat's house? "I told you so...." sounds so stupid because it implies that it's OK to burn some one's house than talk about "sensitive" issues. Maybe next time, other races can demonstrate or barge into a meeting when Malay parties talk about Malay unity because it can cause uneasiness among others.

To make matter worse, Pak Lah has said that the Home Ministry could take action against the Bar Council for holding the forum. In this take, I'm really disappointed with Pak Lah. I've always thought that he will be the one that will give his full support for a more open society with his reform agendas. Seems like he himself needs to have support from certain quarters when his position is at stake. Now, that would be a really sad day for Malaysia.

After more than 50 years of independence, we have become more racist. Going backward with racist remarks made by politicians just to gain some publicity or support. Politicians or political parties will not be afraid to play the race/religion card to gain popularity. Power play in politic is normal but to use the race card is just so uncool! MCA has been critical of the demos. Rightly so! Why none of the Malay ministers/politicial condemn this act which is "not our culture"? Why ?

Grow up!!... We, Malaysians deserves better!

08.08.08.... Let's celebrate!

Yes, this is the day considered by most Chinese to be an auspicious day; maybe one of the most auspicious day of the year. The number "8" sounds like 'prosperity' or 'richness' in Chinese; thus meaning good luck or great fortune. No wonder the Beijing Olympics will kick-off the opening ceremony on this day, exactly at 8.00pm sharp. I'm sure, billion of viewer across the globe will glue themselves to the idiot box in what being termed as the most expensive and extravagant show of the century!

Most Chinese have a strong believe system, inherited from their forefathers. We believe in anything that sounds good to the ears, will bring good luck. Thus it's no secret the number '8' is one of our favourite numbers while the number '4' is a big no no! Why? The word '4' sounded like death in Chinese..... Big Chinese tycoons are always willing to spend big money to get their coveted car plates, possibly '8888'.

So with such a heavy investment to organise the Olympics, the Chinese Government had to break tradition, that is to have the opening ceremony other than a weekend. Take no risk, since the biggest sporting event in the world has to be a big success. Anything that can help, will help...

However, it's interesting to note that this year, the year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar is far from smooth sailing for China. First to hit is the damaging snow storm, stranding million of home going Chinese at railway stations during the biggest annual exodus of human being; Chinese New Year. Then, the unrest in Tibet where Beijing got unwanted spotlight focusing on alleged violation of human rights. Then came the deadly Sichuan earthquake that shook the whole world. Ironically the Sichuan disaster happened 80 days before 08.08.08!

So, I hope whatever misfortune that hit China will be cleansed once the Games kicks off. China has suffered enough for the year. It's time to rejoice and celebrate humanity.

Another round of massive jam

Yep, today the KL city folks have to endure another round of traffic jam courtesy of the PDRM in anticipation of a mass rally, demo whatever their intelligence sources told them will happen.

Preventive measure? You bet. Since Anwar Ibrahim is to be charge in court for sodomy charges, his supporters might go nuts and destroy everything in sight. Maybe the police knew something we really don't. Maybe PKR's members are planning a march around town in protest against Anwar's impending court case. MAybe the party members are so stupid, they'll march right in the middle of the a morning rush hour. Just to state their case..... Thank you Mr Police, you made me feel safe with your presence at the highways this morning.

Don't the police or anyone in charge see it? These roadblocks contributed nothing but frustration, anger and waste of precious petrol to everyday commuters. Morning jam is bad enough but instead of improving traffic flow, our men in blue made it worse. Most were caught out in surprise. Many were late for work or appointments. Waste of time, if you ask me. These roadblocks are just not effective and counter-productive.

All these tax-payers money should be put into better use. I'm sure the police or some big shot will justify this insane call for blocks. Please don't put the blame on Anwar, PKR or PR. It all about the Government feeling insecure, paranoid and defensive. Have the balls to admit it. Don't find silly excuse and bikin susah to the rakyat.

August 26th... D-Day

Will he make it this time?

This is it, folks! The Election Commission has announced August 16th to be the nomination day while August 26th will be the day where folks in Permatang Pauh will cast their votes again. This time it's for Anwar or another BN candidate. This place will get huge limelight in the coming weeks!

Permatang Pauh has always been Anwar's fortress. He won there as a candidate. His wife won there as a candidate. So this time BN really is the David..... they got an uphill battle to wrestle the seat and more importantly defeat Anwar and prevent him from gaining entry into Parliament. Tough, but still doable.

It would say Anwar will be a huge favourite in this bout; no matter who he faces. I'm hoping for Ezam, his former aide. That would be more exciting than watching the Olympic century sprint. However, I'm still a bit confuse. Will Anwar be able to do battle if he's arrested for the alleged sodomy case looming? Won't that disqualify him? If there's anything happening to him now, the conspiracy theorists will have another field day! BN is now walking on a tight rope. Sure they can lose Pematang Pauh (it's not their seat, anyway) but the effect of electing Anwar into Parliament will be a great blow to them.

Teachers to teach hatred?

Is there still any out there?

I was shocked, saddened and doubly angry when I read about the teacher who hurled abuse and derogatory racist remarks on her students in Banting. What the heck is all this?!!! Aren't teachers entrusted to teach our children, to mould them early to become decent citizens of the country? Aren't they suppose to lead by example, to let our future generations know what is tolerance is all about? So, what is all these nonsense? While clearly this might be an isolated case, it shows just how much more we still need to do to achieve so called racial harmony.

This recent episode clearly demonstrates lack of discipline, tolerance and understanding for a different race by the teacher. Even her pupils knew it was wrong and complained to their parents. What makes her so special in the sense that she sees other as inferior to her? What she needs now is a public unconditional apology to all that she has hurt and resign being a teacher. She's just not fit to become one. Since the matter is now made public, she did make an apology to the students; which I don't see as sufficient and the punishment meted out is just a transfer. That's all? Just a transfer? Bravo to the Education Ministry.

While most of the political big shots are now focusing at the by-election at Permatang Pauh, let us all ponder the efforts by our Government to foster closer ties among Malaysians. Please do away with racist policies/stands. We have been divided for long enough. Divide and conquer don't work anymore. 50 years of Independence and still there are people who regards other race as "pariahs", "monkeys"..... This is sad.

Let's unite all Malaysians, starting NOW!

Pak Lah Upset!?

Another round of expensive repairs!

It was reported that Pak Lah was upset with the latest problem with MRR2 needing repairs just after 2 years after repair works costing RM70million. Upset!? If I were him, I drag whoever responsible to court for wasting public funds and most probably for corruption too. The big word here is responsibility. Is there any of it now? BPR needs to look into this. This BN government is just riddled with scandals after scandals!

Pak Lah was quoted saying: "This could have been easily avoided if those responsible had ensured that earlier repair works had been done properly. If this had been done, there would be no damage and the rakyat would not be fuming". How he noticed! The problem here is that no one seems to be responsible for anything. Ministers are big shots appointed to look good and give statements to the media. If there's any blooper, just blame it on the media for "misquoting". No one seems to own up to anything anymore. When things go wrong, point fingers, point anywhere except to oneself. Since when have we heard of ministers resigning for a screwed-up job in Malaysia; Dr. Chua is an exception. His case is more of a political assassination.

On the latest approval rating on our PM showing a slide, Pak Lah seems to be calm on it. Tak apa lah, was his response. Tak Apa? If this is the attitude of our Taiko running a country, can you imagine the people working under him? This Tidak Apa attitude is just going to do more damages to us. Don't worry, Be happy!? Come on, Pak Lah... you need to buck up. Show your strength to all of us. Bring those responsible for any wrong doings to the book. Show them no mercy. We need you to lead the country. Or else, someone else will. Maybe you yourself already surrender?

So, again part of the MRR2 will need to closed. Repairs will take place again. Again motorists will be affected. I believe it won't be the last of it.......

Truly Asia's family lunch.

This afternoon, Truly Asia hosted a welcome lunch for its' new staffs. This day was choosen coz today everybody is at the office. Welcome on board, Anthony, Jackson and also Nicole! We had lunch at the Zi Teng（紫藤）.

Truly Asia usually had its lunch there coz basically Zi Teng is very close to the office. Just across a street. The place serves good food, reasonably priced and quite healthy too. Most of the dishes there are "tea-themed" meaning it's cooked with some tea with it.

So today, every one had a hefty lunch. We ordered the set lunch menu which consist of soup, duck with fresh lettuce, prawns cooked with cheese and orange, chicken with sweet sour sauce (served with rolls), pitaya with fish slices, pineapple with fresh scallop, fried rice, stir-fried vege and to top off, fresh fruit platter. For desert, we we served ginkgo soup-paste. We were supposed to get a green tea cake instead of the fresh fruit but due to the short notice, the restaurant can't serve that; so an exchange was made.

It took about 2 hours for us to complete the whole course. Everyone was just full to the brim! A warm and fuzzy feeling indeed and I felt that the new guys/gal would feel the same way too. That's the Truly Asia way!

After lunch back to the office for work. Immediately, they went for a serious meeting about future projects to be undertaken. Back to the real world bro!

The haze is back!

Braze yourself for another episode of "Haze", the annual affair courtesy of Indonesia and some bloody stupid assholes who think that open burning is cool!

With no or little rain these few days, the situation don't look too good. This morning when I looked out from my apartment's window, everything is blurry. It gives a false impression of a cool, mountain or highland feel. Well, it's NOT!

Why can't the Indonesia Government banned open burning? They are most probably one of the world biggest haze exporter while we and countries like Singapore and Southern Thailand becomes their biggest importer. Every year, without fail, July, August and September we get hazed! A lot people will start to cough due to deteriorating air quality that we breath. Some get eye-sore or irritation. Anyway, a visit to the doctor is a real possibility. Indonesia is not just polluting the world by burning the forest, she burned our pocket too.
Now the situation still looks under control but will it last? Only time will tell. At the time being, drink more water, refrain from outdoor exercise if possible. Take care.

The MOVs are coming!

The hours are ticking away and I bet til my last ringgit that the 10 Malaysian Olympic Volunteers are now feeling more and more excited. Why? They'll fly out in a few days time. While I only know 1 out of 10 of them personally, my thought and wishes will be with them all. KK! Remember to position yourself, ok? Set a high standard for all... STANDARD MUST BE MEASURABLE! Sounds familiar? Hahahaha.....

So, you guys will be taking the late flight out tomorrow? All 10 of you? I know it's tiring coz you won't be able to sleep well in the plane but once you touched down, all will be forgotten. Let's show the world what MOVs looked like; and I don't mean looking like pandas! Show them what Malaysian Hospitality is like; KK not hospital la! I'm sure you guys gonna make loads of friends and have great stories to tell when you get back. So, enjoy yourselves while soaking up the Olympic atmosphere, suck the energy (but not the air too much). Only damper is no roti canai, teh tarik, wantan mee, curry laksa or nasi lemak for you all! Hahaha!

KK, I'll send you 1st hand result of Liverpool when the EPL starts. You enjoy the stay there while I enjoy Keane, Torres and Gerrard kill off Sunderland and others!

BPR now quizzing the PDRM

What a month for BPR. Surely, Malaysians have never seen BPR being so active before. With the breaking news of investigating the Taikos in the Immigration Dept, Anwar lodging a report for the black-eye incident to the E200 Kompressor purchases; now even the PDRM is seen as tainted with a supply scandal. What are we becoming as a nation?

Reports have stated that most of the equipment supplied to the PDRM are of low qualities. Even SWAT boots are laced with pigskin! How insensitive?! To start with, road blocks signages are flimsy, flicker lights not bright enough and is a real danger to motorists and police personnel. Non water-proof boots for the traffic police; so next time if heavy downpour, don't blame the police for not manning junctions. Nanti kaki basah ma.... banyak busuk lo! Bullet proof vests not up to specs. Surely won't blame them for running for covers if facing crooks armed with bigger guns firing at them. Boots for FRU and UN peacekeepers are not nail proof! WOW! To make some fast bucks some dickheads are prepared to risk the lives of the very people who are trusted to protect us. If I'm the Police Chiefs, I would be very very pissed!

So, the BPR are now investigating these cases that are negotiated deals. Transparency? Sorry la brader..... Million of ringgit might just end up in someone pocket while the police force might just continue to be supplied with sub-standard equipment. A thorough investigation must be carried out and the equipment currently used must be retested for certifications. Those who benefits from these deals must be punished heavily and not just being transferred. We must not send out the wrong signals to these parasites.

The talk continues

With the recently revelation that UMNO is inviting PAS for a dialogue/talk or whatever you want to call it, I just can't help but find the "talk" to be a attempt by the BN to wrestle a few states from PR via back door. To lose a 2/3 majority in Parliament is painful but the loss of 5 States makes it even more painful for the mighty BN to take in. Now in an attempt to "win" back or at least unsettles the PR, UMNO has been seen as courting PAS for a marriage.

Malay unity and Islamic affairs is the main item on the table. Very interesting and convenient subject to talk. So, in Malaysia, only Malay unity is important. What about the Chinese, Indians and those labeled as lain-lain? Aren't we part of this country too? Don't we contribute anything at all? UMNO is desperate to show to the Malays that it will champion their cause; and ONLY they got the power to do it. FARK OFF!

So now should the MCA talk to DAP and Gerakan for Chinese unity? Should the MIC and Hindraf sit together and talk about Indian unity? All the segregation or unity among race will ultimately lead to racial splitting in the years to come. BN is doing more harm than good in initiating the talk.

Desperate can be an understatement used to describe UMNO now especially in Perak. Tajol Rosli went further in trying to coax PAS Perak to work with them and form a new State Government. A stronger government will be for if PAS work with them. How? With only a few more seats? You become stronger when the people are behind you! He's power hungry! To show he's not, he won't be asking for any seat and willing to offer PAS the MB post. How noble. Heard of Kerajaan Boneka, mate?

In an attempt to take back the states, all sort of tactics are now being used. Racist politics, "talk" to your sworn enemy, sodomy charges are all part of the combo package to remain in power. Pak Lah, please abandon the talk. Nothing will come good of it. You are going out soon. Let Najib work hard to win back the people's heart. Fight graft, improve the economy. After all, BN still govern Malaysia. Don't take the easy way out; there's no short cut to success.

A Big Can of Worms

Buy Barangan Buatan Malaysia?

The controversy surrounding the purchase of 14 Merc E200 Kompressor by the Terengganu State Government has now snowballed into stories that can really help sell newspapers. Ever since its MB announced the purchase, the Rakyat has been jumping and demand an explanation and action by the Fed Government on what is seen as a big waste of public funds. Datuk Ahmad Said is not a very bright man indeed with his justification on this matter. Or he has been ill advised by someone? And now, BPR has swung into action in investigating this scandal.

The very reason to justify the purchase itself is tainted with corruption. Why? Just imagine spending more than RM1million to maintain a fleet of Perdana V6; and by fleet its only 16 cars! And spending more than RM3millions is to cut cost?! I'm not very good in maths but I sure know how to do simple calculations. This alone justifies action by the BPR. What the heck!? It put Proton into a tight spot. Either the car itself is lousy or to maintain it, you need millions. Of course Proton will come out like a wounded lion to defend its dignity. Proton's MD has come out and tell us that some parts used in the fleet were indeed non-genuine or 2nd hand. A service outlet in the state has been suspended.

All these hoo-hah is a no win for all parties. To me, the Feds were chicken when dealing with Terengganu. Why allow them to keep the cars for "VIP" visitors? How many VIP visited the state; hell, how many times our PM or DPM visited the state? Expensive white elephants on four wheels? You bet! Get them to sell it off! Making loss? Get the MB and the exco pay from their pockets! Tunjuk terror and hold the Government balls?

Show them who's boss, Pak Lah.

So all these drama certainly gives all the actors involved bad publicity. The Feds is seen as weak in dealing with the state. The state is abusing the state's coffer. Proton's product is seen as low quality and not even supported by the state government; which is against the wish of the Feds. So, it's now up to the BPR to clean up the mess. Since BPR has already taking some sort of action, it'll be interesting to see what happens in these few weeks. A can of worms has already been opened for all to see. It's their job to catch the big fish again. Fishing trip anyone?

Last Saturday, we went to Claudia's place for a steamboat dinner. When we reached there Janet, Maggie and CK were already there. I assume they reached there early to help out and prepare since Claudia is good at eating only! Hahaha!Well, we are good at eating too to be fair. Did nothing basically, just switch on the pot and voila! We only contributed 2 bottles of wine....

The soup base was delicious and wholesome. All prepared by Maggie. She even went to pasar earlier in the morning to buy the fishballs and stuffs but the best is the prawns. Big, fresh and succulent. Just too bad I don't dare to eat since takut gatal-gatal la.... Another worthy mention is the chili sauce prepared specially for this dinner by CK's mom. The best sauce! Thumbs up!

We started the dinner while waiting for Eddie and his family to come by. They were late because his daughter has got some class to attend to. Anyway, there are plenty of food to go by, since I think Maggie thought the whole kampung is dropping by. Just too much to eat and we tapau some when we went home.

Everyone had fun, talking, drinking, chit-chatting.... Even my sons had fun running around the house. At the end of the day, we went back home full to the brim and tired. Both my boys slept in the car while on our way home. When we want to have another steamboat, Maggie's soup and CK's chili will be the 1st on our list.

Piggy or Sardines?

Sardine Packer!

More than a century ago, our forefathers (well, most of them) were packed off from Mainland China and sold to this part of the world known as Nanyang 南洋 as cheap labourer. Most of them were sent to tin mines or to the rubber plantations. These poor souls are called piggy 猪仔. Why? It is said that their living condition is so appalling during their journey here by junks, it is just like a pig sty; thus they are living just like pigs! Human trafficking seems like a legal trade back then.

Well, fast forward to the 21st century. Certainly these piggy trading are now extinct but the way they suffer in their travelling seems to have evolved. No more by sea but their descendants are now packed-off into trains like sardines! I have the opportunity to be one today when I board the much-talked about mode of transport; the KTM Kommuter!

My ride by Kommuter started from KL Sentral to Mid Valley for some biz matters. Going there is ok, the train is pretty sharp on time. Hell begins when I board the tin can back to Sentral. Passengers were full to the brim it's a wonder the train captain can manage to close the doors. Well, it took him 3 attempts to finally close it. Mid Valley is just one station away from my destination but it seems like forever and time stood still. The air cond seems not cool enough as the cabin is so stuffy and body odour from sweaty people is free for all to enjoy. No one seems to need to hold on to the hand-rails when the train moves. We were really packed like sardines and it's a miracle that no one fainted! I swear I will if I need to be in the cabin for another minute.

Luckily for me, my rides ends at Sentral. I was the first to jump off. What a big relief! I really pity those who needs to travel everyday by the Kommuter. The relevant authority really needs to look into the service time and the condition of the train. With more people opting for public transport, an improvement is a must.

This is how I felt this morning. Kinda bad mood. Had a bad sleep yesterday; kept on having things crossing my mind. As usual, stuck in the jam. Made things worse......

Maybe I just need to cool down, take a deep breath and exhale. You know, just to be glad that I'm alive and stop feeling lousy. Life too precious to sulk. Gimme a minute, and I'll be OK.

A Visit To The Sky Bridge

Yesterday, out of the blue, I had the urge to queue up at KLCC to get tickets for the Sky Bridge visit. I reached the ticket counter around 9:00a.m and there were already some people; mostly tourists standing in front of me. The queue was not long and its very orderly. When my turn comes for the tickets, I was allocated the 3:45p.m slot. I asked for 5 tickets and they promptly issued it to me.

So, after lunch, told Debbie that I had some tickets to the Sky Bridge. Together with Claudia, Maggie and Janet, 5 of us "sneaked out" from the office around 3:15p.m. Claudia drove us there and parked at KLCC.

Once we made our way there, we were ushered to a mini 3-D theater. We wore our "cool" glasses and wait for a 7 minutes long documentary about Petronas' contributions and field of work. Quite informative if you understand English. The 3-D effect is not spectacular though.

Right after the show, come the highlight of our visit. We returned the 3-D glasses and queue up at the security check point to have our bags and stuffs scanned. No drama there and we were directed into a high speed lift. Claudia commented the lift resembles the one 富贵山庄 uses! Scary! Well, it took us around 41 seconds to reach the lower deck; perched high up at 41st floor. Only this floor is open to the public while the upper deck is reserved for staffs and emergency. We were given 10minutes by the in house guide to snap photos. 10 minutes might seem short but it's just nice since we got no where to go. Took some photos while the girls clowned around.

10minutes of photo time is up and all of us made our way down using the same elevator. Once we reached 1st floor, we passed by a small gallery where some exhibit were on show. Got some brain teasers which is quite interesting. Then, I got my height measured at one of the exhibits and it showed how many times the KLCC, Sear Towers or Jin Mao (Shanghai) is taller than me. Cool!

We made our way back right after this. Don't have time to shop at Suria. We sneaked out, remember? On the way back we stop by at a makan stall at Pudu. Bought some nasi lemak, bubur cha-cha and some Taiwanese pudding for our tea break. The food is as nice as our visit to the Tallest and Longest sky bridge in the world. Malaysia Boleh!

So, now it's OK?

UMNO and PAS

The MCA has been very vocal when the DAP and PAS worked together and later on formed the Pakatan Rakyat together with PKR. Some of its leaders has been calling for the DAP to apologise to the Chinese voters for "backstabbing" the Chinese because of PAS' ideology. Setting up of an Islamic State by PAS has been used by MCA to taruk DAP.

So, now it's OK for UMNO to hold talks with PAS? MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the party would view the talks between Umno and PAS from a “very open-minded perspective”. Interesting choice of word, sir. When UMNO talks to PAS, it's because of unity and for the good of all Malaysian, but when DAP did that, its backstabbing. I'm no politician and I don't really support a particular party. But the MCA seems to have gone back on its stand. Maybe when Taiko do something, Sai Lo just need to keep its mouth shut.

Not even 1 MCA leader has come out and say something other than praising the leaders for "trying to unite" the nation. DAP, as a member of the PR has voiced concern about the talk, and as the result of that has been accused by Datuk Shairir of overreacting or over suspicious. Another hypocrite. A desperate ploy to win back Malay votes? Why not unity among Malaysians? Even his brother, Khalid Abd Samad has said the talk is more of an attempt to hurt the PR and calls for the talk to end. “All Umno wants is the numbers to significantly weaken Pakatan Rakyat. It wants power. It does not have Malay unity or Islam at heart. It is just using excuses,” is what the Shah Alam MP have said. Maybe MCA needs to comment and 'stand' on the Chinese side? As long as the political parties harping on racial sentiments for support, there will be no unity. I hold Malaysian IC, passport. I love nasi lemak, teh-o ais limau. I sing 'Negaraku' at school. Am I anything less Malaysian?

Walk the talk, man. Make your stand clear. Don't be a flip-flop party. It'll be interesting to see if MCA willing to go against the Taiko.

To Buy Or Not To Buy

I wanna be an Exco too!

That is the question! That's the question that many Malaysians including top guns like PM & the DPM has been itching to know from the Terengganu State Government.

The Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Ahmad Said has announced that the State will acquire 14 Mercs for its Exco members; costing around RM3.43mil. The reason given is that the current batch of Proton Perdana V6 is expensive to maintain and low on safety features. Hmmm..... now finally someone is admitting that our local car is low on quality? Interesting....

RM3.43mil is a lot of money, even for a state that produces oil. This purchase MUST be scrap or put on hold at least until our economy is "back on its feet". Federal Government wants the Rakyat to change its lifestyle; to face the harsh reality of expensive oil and yet Terengganu is planning to spend lavishly. Change our lifestyle? YOU BET! The state keeps on telling us that its not using the oil royalty for the purchase. Aisay man..... so, the exco members gonna pay from their own pocket? Not in 3.43mil years... make it light years! It's still tax payers money, Einstein!

Maintenance costs is one of the factor sited for ditching the National car. Expensive to maintain, maybe..... but spending over a 100k for maintaining 1 car is just ridiculous. Either the state engages a very expensive/posh workshop or there's foul play. Kasi resit, saya boleh claim punya. Nanti I kasi you sikit duit kopi la..... Maybe the drivers are so lousy, they tend to cock-up the car. Maybe the car itself is pretty cocked-up. Proton, please explain why your car so lousy one!

While big cars can be expensive to maintain, certainly it doesn't justify to the fact that Merc is the choice for the Excos. There are thousand of cars cheaper than Merc but better than Proton. Japs are reliable. Skodas are nice cheaper conti alternatives. Maybe the State want to tunjuk terror ma... Anyway, it just shows how arrogant they are. Great job Terengganu folks for voting them in. Syabas!

7 days of loneliness

My two monsters; Xu Hom & Si Qian

Loneliness... that's a scary word for a lot of people including me. And 7 days of it? I swear, a few more, I'll sure go nuts! So, what makes me feel so isolated. Well, for a start, I was "out there", tour guiding a bunch of "aliens" aka tourists. Not too bad, since I gotta make a living and tours from China usually lasted only 4 days in Malaysia.

In my line of work, I usually spent at least 2 nights staying in hotels; away from my family. I do miss my kids and my wife. What make it so bad for me this time is that my agent gave me a last minute assignment to "back" another group when my tour concludes. That makes it 7 days out on the field. A long 7 days.......

Called up my sons the other night. Chat with them and even my lil' devil sound so sweet over the phone. I knew he missed me, kissing me and kept calling papa. Urgh!!!!! As for Xu Hom, I can feel that he's a disappointed that I'll only be back today because he thought I'd be home and play the Ben10 PSP with him. Sorry son, we miscommunicated. Debbie told me some good news. Our long long wait for the renovation of our town house is finally over with the banks settling the outstanding amount. This Saturday seems to be a good day in terms of feng shui for ground breaking ceremony. Can't wait for it! But the best piece of news is Debbie told me how our 2 kids seem to missed me. I missed them too and just wanna go over and give them a big big hug and kiss.

I know, I could have declined the 2nd assignment but I need extra cash for the impending renovation work on our new home. It's a price I need to pay. More money; less time with family. But deep down I know, the time I spent with my kids will always be precious.

Badan Pencegah Rasuah

With the arrest and investigation on the top 2 personnel in the Immigration Department, our ACA is starting to strike fear on those parasites that sucks other people dry in return for their favour. It was a well publicised affair with the mass media having a field day reporting the arrest of the D-G and his Deputy on corruption practices. This has to be one of the most high profile arrest on corruption the rakyat has seen and it sends shock waves throughout the country. A host of others have been held too to facilitate investigations which only shows that the BPR is dead serious in combating this social ill, if unchecked will bring greater rot in our society as a whole. The D-G Datuk Abdul Wahid Md Don has been released on bail since. Our PM has said that with the arrest, it proved that "big fish" can be caught too. Let us all play a part and help BPR to become the best fisherman Malaysians can ever see! The latest development is starting to show the result of reform by our PM. Just too bad he has announced he retiring come 2010. I really do want to see him to continue his reform agenda and carry us forward. Talks that he is a weak leader holds no water. C'mon Pak Lah!

As the BPR gained more power and become independent, (under the reform) let's hope and see if it can make us a "cleaner" country. Our country still lags behind Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau in this department, as such we have much to do and the BPR can never do it alone. Taking a line from WWF, "when the buying stops, the killing will too", we must know, if there are no giver, there will be no taker. The public has a very important role to play. Thus moral education either at school or at home is very very important. Kids and also adults must know that to offer bribe is just as guilty as accepting one.

Declaring ones asset is a commendable thing but how do you justify the D-G can afford to live in Bukit Tunku? Either his salary is huge or he has got side income, and I don't think he sells pisang goreng or apam at the pasar malam. By looking at his home address will show something fishy.... hmmm.....maybe he sells fish! A big fish indeed like what the PM has said.

Anyway, great job BPR! Keep on fishing, let them know being on top of the food chain don't guarantee you safety. Let's fight graft together; and BPR ...please kick their sorry ass!

Mad rush made worst......

Sometimes, when we are driving and our two sons were seated at the back, we'll have some issues with unrest at the back. My younger son is always the bully, always wanting to pick a fight with his older sibling. A slight touch by his brother is enough for him to retaliate with swift action; George W Bush will be proud of him. Well we don't; not a bit. Though my 2 year old monster can't really speak well, he understood us loud and clear. Whenever he kicked up a fuss or pick a fight , his mom or me will let him now that we're watching his every move. But being a 2 year old, he got the fast brain and in no time he'll tell us "哥哥喇!" which translates to "it's not my fault, brother did it 1st" Of course we don't buy his bullshit coz we know he ain't no saint. Trying to justify his mistake shows that he'll more than guilty......

Which brings me to the terrible traffic crawl endured by city folks for the past few days. Slow moving highways or main roads struggling to cope with the daily morning mad rush was made worst by the decision by the Police to set-up road blocks. The reason? Anticipated rally by the opposition. Public safety is the Government's priority. I deemed the Ops Padam a success because the PR failed to get the rally up and running. Syabas! By the way, the PR has denied that any rally or protest were planned. It'll be stupid for them to admit if a rally was indeed planned and since there was nothing happening, why be a hero? Everyone is going to deny it and I think if there's a plan to make the Government to look like a fool, they scored big!

Syed Hamid was quick to offer his apology to the Malaysian public especially those caught in the jam but was equally quick to pointed the finger to the opposition camp, again! "I'm sorry, but it's them la!" How convenient. Sounds familiar to Si Qian's plea to me. Well, I don't buy his bull and I'm not impressed either!

So, what type of intelligence sources are used to determine if a rally was indeed planned? Let me see.... blogs, SMSes and PR party meetings. Well if the 1st two "sources" are used, well so much for intelligence, mate. No wonder, year after year, Malaysians still fall prey to con artists or scams offering huge reward through e-mails and SMS. Even our Government bought it. Why blame ordinary layman....

PM offered support for the Police actions which I understand. Maybe to him, it's better for us to suffer in the jam caused by the Police than suffer in the jam if we are caught in a mass rally. A big "IF". We wasted so much time and valuable petrol while the police mobilised around 1,600 personnel to man the blocks. Maybe the Police is too free, with nothing better to do as if no crime is happening in the morning ma! A total waste of public's fund to stop or prevent something that may never happen.

So, I think Si Qian is very smart. Whenever we chided him, his response is always "it's not my fault, it's never my fault, it will always my 哥哥 fault"

Let me tell you, Si Qian boy..... your mom and I will never buy your bull!

My terrible itch!

I had something like this!

Yesterday night was hell for me! The Urticaria was killing me! I have hives developing all over me and I'm like a monkey; scratching myself to provide temporary relief from the itch. URGH! I was hesitating to see the doctor as I was trying not to have medicine; unless really necessary. And necessary it was. Just can't tahan anymore. Can't sleep, can't sit...hell! I can't even play Ben 10 on the PSP properly without my fingers scratching all over my body. So a visit to the clinic downstairs is a MUST!

After much hesitation, I was there, waiting for my name to be called by the attendant. After a short chat with the doc, it was confirmed with what I've read from the net regarding Urticaria/hive. Basically, there's no known cause for this attack. What triggers it is still a big question mark for most victims; but luckily, no serious health hazard apart from serious scratching and red marks/bumps that will go away; eventually. Hmmm... eventually.

From the net, it's stated that basically everything or anything can trigger the hives. Common source is food; items like seafood, shellfish, nuts and the list goes on. Other factors like clothing can do some harm too, especially tight clothing or latex. Latex? How about condom? Hahaha! Then, weather can play a part too. Too cold, too hot.... So the doctor asked me a few questions in order to help me to isolate potential cause. Told him that I used to have reaction when I eat prawns, but it's only sometimes. Never had issues with nuts, attire or the weather. But for these few days, I suspect nuts being the culprit because the attacks become serious when I had red bean soup, toufu or almond biscuit.

Doc asked me to be careful with my diet; but his last advise to me rings true. He told me that I can't be too careful with everything or else I've got to stop eating, stop going out, be naked! Anyway, he prescribed some medicines to me after I refused to take a jab.

RM50 bought me some anti-itch pills, anti-allergic & a sleeping pill to make me sleep better. Got some anthistamine too to combat the hives. I took all of it promptly except the sleeping pill. Slept like a baby all night long! So for now, I'm a OK, apart from feeling a lil' bit groggy.

A well spent RM50, as the most important item it bought me is a good night sleep and a well deserved relief.

I was really frust this morning when I drove off to work. I had a bad sleep yesterday due to the damn Urticaria. Itched like hell, so when I woke up, my mood is not so good. Took shower like usual and off we go. As usual, the traffic starts to build up along the LDP around 7:15a.m but when I heard the radio's traffic info, it really makes my blood boiled!

It was reported that the police has set-up road blocks in various main roads that leads to the city and the Parliament. The reason? In anticipation of a mass rally organised by the opposition to vent their anger at the recent price hike of basically everything. So, roads that are usually heavy in traffic during the morning rush will be affected. We got caught in the jam, cars moved slowly... you know, the usual morning crawl but made worst by the "blockades". It was reported that the police will do checks on suspicious cars/occupants.

WHAT? How the hell the Police is going to know if the car is heading towards a rally? By looking at the car? The driver? Smells something different from thousand of other motorists? Whoever made this decision ought to have his heads checked. I'll understand if the Parliament is a off-zone for visitors (security reason) in view of a potential clash between PR and BN on the motion against the PM. But roads towards the city? What really pissed me off is that when I passed through the blockade, I saw a few Policemen sharing some jokes among themselves while closing 1 lane near the Petronas/Shell opposite of Eastin Hotel. Checks on motorists? Hahaha.... I don't know what they're talking but obviously the jokes must be good because the police don't even bother to wave or look at any of the cars. Just standing there and enjoying a good laugh among themselves.

If only we have signs like these....

So, my question is, will this type of inconvenience will make the world a better place? Definitely no! It only succeeded in making me and I believe a lot of other motorists' blood pressure go up and wasted thousand of precious litres of petrol in the jam. How ironic....

Hmmm..... not quite. Hahaha... breakfast in Truly Asia more likely. This morning sees a departure from our normal morning breakfast ritual. No more Imbi Pasar Hainan Coffee and toast and certainly no more unhealthy but crowd favourite Nasi Lemak. How does the idea of having homemade breakfast in the office came about? Well, it was during lunch yesterday when I blurt out that most of us are practically bored of what we eat and ran out of ideas on what to eat. Thus, why not we have breakfast in the office; ala potluck, everyday, different things by a different person. It is how this wonderful idea was borned and Debbie and I were the first to contribute.

So, shopping for chicken ham sandwich and green salad begins last night. Last minute shopping with the help of Xu Hom (eldest son). Grabbed some cheese, bread, chicken ham, salad and last but not least my mustard! It was like a bank heist, grab and go.....of course we paid la!

Went back home and the first thing I did is to search for our long forgotten sandwich maker. Covered in dust after all those years lying in the cupboard, but still working. All set for the First Homemade Breakfast in Truly Asia!

This morning, the girls; Claudia, Janet, Maggie and Elaine all helped out to prepare the meal. Some of them made coffee; the easiet thing to do.... how hard can it be if it's 3in1?, while some help to get the bread from the sandwich maker. Claudia had the hardest work; squeezing coleslaw dressing onto the salad! Again.... how hard can it be!!! Hahaha..... our breakfast is a simple meal.... Anyway, we had a great time enjoying the fruit of our hard labour. It was more of the togetherness than the food. We were joking, poking fun at each other (Claudia and Janet are sworn enermies from past life); basically enjoying the moment. Just too bad CK is not there to join us.

So, we finished our sandwich and coffee. Left some salad coz everyone is just too full to continue. Already I'm looking forward to next week coz it's my turn to see others prepare breakfast for all of us! Just can't wait....... Yummy!

A tribute to my friend

The Olympics is coming; less than a month after about 5,000 years of waiting for the Old Kingdom we now call China. Well, Qin Shi Huang would have no idea that his unification of China will see it hosting the biggest sporting event in the world. In less than a month, China will be invaded by foreign legion of sport warriors, fans, reporters and not to mention volunteers. Great Wall of China will be breached and China will welcome them with an open arm!

There will be thousands of people going to China to watch this great event, while millions more may glue themselves to their seats back home to watch their heroes doing battles in their respective battlefield. Some might not care but some are willing to sacrifice their time and money just to be there. I have a great friend who will be at the Olympics as a volunteer, to see for himself and absorb the energy that happens only every 4 years.

To be a volunteer is not easy. It's never easy to be a volunteer of any kind, but to be away a thousand miles from home makes it tougher. It needs whole-hearted dedication. All cost to be borne by oneself. How many of us can do that? Work has to be put aside, you need to find willing sponsors for food, lodging and also the travel arrangement. It's a lot of money involved; not to mention time and effort put in. My friend, if I'm not mistaken will be stationed at the Aquatic Centre. He'll get to watch all those great bodies in skimpy outfit for free! Maybe that's the reward for being a volunteer! He'll be a lucky 金鱼老! Jokes aside, I know he'll be a dedicated volunteer for our country, raising our Jalur Gemilang, and be proud whenever our swimmers took to the pool. I hope he'll enjoy his stay there and comes back with fond memories. Just can't wait to listen to his experience.

Anyway, best of luck to you, my friend. I'm proud to have a friend like you, always ready to help and serve. just like when I'm working with you. Everything also can kau tim! Macao trip

Finally, the final part of my trip to Macao/Hong Kong with my family on the 26th to 30th May 2008. It was a trip well worth; despite throwing up on board the ferry from HK to Macao. Hehehe... tapau my dim sum! Even our return flight was delayed due to the bad weather (airport was temporary closed). Maybe Macao loves us too much to see us go back!

Anyway, it was a trip my kids will remember for a long long time. I'll never forget Xu Hom's face when he pretended to be a "statue" at Venetian.

A weekend of food

First of all, congrats to Andrew and Shanny for moving to a new house. Nothing fancy; just family members gather around, having dinner at his new place. It was such a huge house and being a terrace, IT IS HUGE! 3 storeys high, with rooms bigger than my house! So so different from his old condo. Anyway, a lil' too big if you ask me; unless he plans to have like a dozen kids! Hehehe..... he might! My only complain about the place is the location. Seems to be hidden in the middle earth, if you ask me. Located near Bukit Jalil, the place is a bit too far for my liking. Only the new Sirim hq offers a landmark otherwise even a GPS system will not help. Anyway, it's a new township call Paragon Heights. Gated & guarded community living. It won't be long til new neighbourhood starts to surround this place and makes it another traffic jammed area since for now there's only 1 entry/exit point. A bit too far? yah, but Taman Tun was once a very Ulu place too!

Then, on Sunday, we went to my sis's place in Gadong. The reason? I was promised good quality Durians! Wow! How tempting, and I'm not gonna let this opportunity go.

My sis's house is located at the outskirt of Labu. Her plot of land is not that big but big enough to have some durian, langsat, mangosteen trees growing at her backyard. It was the first time my two kids have the chance to see durians hanging from trees and taste fresh picked langsat.

And my sis's choice of durian didn't dissapoint at all! There are a few kampung varieties; no fancy coded names. However it was quite amusing when my sister showed us some of her durian trees with pet names given by the family! How odd! The flesh was thick and creamy. The smell and taste is just heaven! It has been quite sometime since I've tasted anything as good. As an added incentives, it's organic too! My sis never uses any pesticides. Healthy and wholesome! There's too many durians to be eaten in one sitting, we're full to the brim. So .... being a durian lover, we ta pau la! Sis put a few fruits into a plastic bag and we loaded it at the back of my car. Wrong move as the smell stuck there until this morning. It wasn't a pleasant smell this morning when we got ready to go to work/school. And I still got some left in the fridge........

I'm Back!

Hmmmm! Great to be home again after almost a week away from my family. Being a tourist guide/tour manager is tough; juggling between jobs, assignments and of course family and friends.

My latest task is to take a group of Malaysian form a certain insurance company for a trip to Macau/Macao and Zhuhai in China. I was lucky coz I got a great mate working along me from start to the end. Thanks KK! Bringing 90 delegates thru Macao/Zhuhai border seems so much easier with him around. Good partner, great buddy!

I'm blessed with a group of very dedicated bunch of madhat friends besides KK. Mike Lim, David and his "323" brother Michael, Esther (my partner in Gala dinner) and Carina. Being with them makes the day goes faster and can let go steam by making jokes on Michael! Hehehe......

Besides missing my family and our food, being in a foreign land means a miss with the local news. The Anwar "sodomy" saga, Atantulya epic and of course the oil price hike. Nowadays nothing is spared in terms of "price-revision". Even the transit link from KLIA to Sentral gave a 25% rise with effect from 1st July! Mati lo.....
Touching on the oil price hike, I don't think things will improve anytime sooner. It's a global issue; everyone is feeling the pain. What is important is how the Government plans to tackle the issue, what are concrete steps to be taken so the effects are minimized. Hong Kong SAR's Chief Executive even went to the ground and met taxi and lorry drivers and talk to them. Understanding the pain of the rakyat (where the Hongkies are very blunt with the CE) might be a publicity stunt but I admire what Mr. Donald is doing.

As Malaysian, I do hope that all politicians to pull together and act as one to face this huge huge challenge together with the rakyat. Don't waste our money debating if Gobind has apologize or needs to be suspended. BN needs to accept the result of our GE. PR won big, won some important states and thats a very good (if rude) wake up call for them. A bored Weekend.

Well, the title says it all.......

Nothing much to do during the weekend. Basically spent the whole quality time at home and it doesn't cost much. With the fuel hike, most people tend to stay at home. Hey, I'm no cheapskate, the Guv wanted us to change our lifestyle, I'm taking heed only!

Sterling @PJ

On Sunday, we had tea/coffee with an old aquaintance at NZX. Chatted for a while before i brought my kids to our new Condo called Sterling@PJ. My kids loved that place; maybe gonna bring them over this weekend and have a dip at the very nice looking pool. Then had a chat with "Keeper" a fellow forummer/owner of Block A. But needs to cut it short coz suddenly the sky just opened up and it rained cats and dogs!

Proceed for dinner at Ikano for steamboat. Xu Hom wanted chicken rice but I prefered steamboat since it's nearer and in door. Rained quite heavily outside and it'll be difficult to get off the car. Furthermaore, Si Qian got more choices of food; his fav mee, fish balls..... Si Qian ate quite a lot and so does Xu Hom. Boys have got huge appetite. After dinner, go back home without jalan-jalan coz my two babies are really tired. Kept reminding them not to sleep during the ride home coz they stink! Shower first ma....

At night, can't really sleep coz not feeling too good. Woke up around 4:15am and turn on the TV for Euro08. Just in time to watch the last 12 min of extra time between my fav team Spain vs the boring Italians. 0-0 after extra time and to the lottery in PK! Luckily, Spain prevailed when Casillas stopped 2 spot kicks. Now they face tournament surprise package the Russian for a spot in the final. Hope they can win......

Senor Rafa Benitez

Supporting Liverpool Football Club (LFC) has been a real roller coaster ride for fans across the world. I might be (am) biased but there's no football club like LFC. Not the red side of Manchester, not Arsenal and certainly not Chelsea! We have a rich tradition, a wonderful history and certainly, the most successful British football club that the world has ever seen. Well, things are goin' great til.....

Came the Americans with their promises to make us the biggest and most powerful footie club the universe has ever seen. Mr. Gillette can't afford to buy LFC alone, so came Mr. Hicks. 50%-50%, equal shares, equal power, same objectives...... but can't see eye to eye! Then came the public fall-out between the yankies. Then came the bombshell that all the fans got the shock of our lives; our beloved club is being saddled with a huge huge debt. Something the Yanks told us will never happen! Then the back stabbing of our much loved manager, Rafael Benitez. Fans power made sure Rafa stayed on and continue with his rebuilding works.......
The Yankies always made promises that they'll back Rafa to the tilt but now it's clear for all to see. The Yanks are telling lies (again). Back a manager means giving him funds for player acquisition, not sell before you can buy! It's tough being in Rafa's shoes. It's a uncomfortable shoe but Rafa is a tough cookie. The owners are not backing him but the players and fans are....

Which brings me to the current political climate here. There are so much similarities between our PM and Rafa. Both have great personalities; inner strength, approachable and pleasant. Both are having a tough time managing their "squad". While Rafa got to deal with 2 lying owners, AAB gotta deal with the "not so good looking" economy. High oil prices coupled with a heavy defeat in the last GE has caused some of his team players calling for the manager to be sacked. Now this is where Rafa can say he's the luckiest guy in the world. At least the most influential player; our captain marvel, Stevie G has supported him all the way. The senior players are with him. No doubt even we finished 4th in th league. For Pak Lah, he has to face one of the most influential ex-player, the now retired team boss. And now, it seems that the reserve players from Sabah is calling for his head! (Sabah politics have always been on the back seat). It's not the right thing to do but like football players, they won't like the idea of sitting on the bench. You can quit the club, ask for transfer or perform better so the manager selects you for the next match. BUT YOU NEVER ASK FOR THE MANAGER TO BE SACK! Shocking!

So maybe the whole nation should be a LFC supporter. Learn from us. We, the fans have stood by our manager through the good and the bad times. We won our 5th European Champions League title with Rafa, and in a FA trophy and consistently finishing in top 4 even though we do not have the financial muscle like ManU or Chelsea. I must admit, Rafa ain't perfect and so is Pak Lah; but they both are the best we have right now. As a nation, stand by Pak Lah. Let him finish his rebuilding works. His squad members must perform and play their hearts out for the club we call Malaysia!

A trip to remember.....

Went for a holiday with my wonderful family members last May. The trip was planned long ago when AA had a promo. So, a return ticket to Macau was booked (26th May-30thMay) and off we go! It was a trip everyone deserved; especially the kids, something they looked forward to ever since we confirmed the trip. Why? Because it was a trip to DisneyLand Hong Kong!

The trip was all about Mickey and friends. We spent 2 days exploring and having fun; well... lots of it!. There are people who criticized the place; saying it was being too small for a Disney theme park. Have none of those nonsense! It's a magical place to be. Just like the plaque that states "Here You Leave Today and Enter the World of Yesterday, Tomorrow and Fantasy!" Trust me. When you're connected with the inner kid of you, YOU WILL HAVE GREAT FUN in DisneyLand HK! The kids were excited when they saw their fav cartoon heroes while for us the adults.... well, it's time to be kids again! We (the kids and us)truly had fun exploring out there.

Other than the rides, we enjoyed the live shows and of course can't missed the 4D movie! My son had fun "grabbing" pieces of gold coins, rubies and diamonds (wished it was real) as well as getting wet when Donald got thrown into the water! Not to mention the fabulous parades as well! The one thing I can't understand is, what's so special about High School Musical anyway? The teens went wild when they say HSM's parade. They sang and danced and waved to the crew members, whom I must say were pretty good dancers. Maybe it's the generation gap.... after all, I'm no teen.

Time flies when you're having fun. Before we knew it, it was time for the fireworks display meaning it's time to say goodbye to Mickey. We went to the theme park (again) the next morning and spent the whole evening there before taking the train back to HK... I mean back to reality. We round up our trip to DisneyLand with a shopping spree there! Bought souvenirs for our friends and family members back home.

It was a trip most of us will treasure for life. Having great silly fun with our children means so much more to each and one of us. After all, it was OK for the parents to be as crazy and silly as our children.

"What? You don't blog?" "How come?, you're so out lah!" That seems to be 'in-thing' nowadays. Kids half my age or Unkers double my age blogged. So not to be outdone, 'kiasu' ma.... here I am, my 1st blog.

Today is the first day I pay my parking since DBKL changed the payment method for parking. No more parking meters (no more free parking with the 'meter rosak' stickers), now its coupon-styled. My only complaint besides the increased rate is that DBKL need to put another machine. Just 1 machine is not enough for users. Now I need to walk and depending where I park, it's troublesome!

With the sky-rocketing oil prices, basics needs have become more and more like a luxury. Driving is becoming more expensive. What can we do? For a start, drive less! Cut down on unnecessary trips. Eat more at home as home cooked food is cheaper and healthier. For those shopping addicts, hehehe ...... too bad. Unless you wanna be a credit card slave, cut down on plastic swiping! Like the guv said, we need to change our lifestyle, but again, with the rising cost of living, is there any lifestyle left to change?
